i just got a used header fo my sunfire..2.2.. the bolts that connect it though are missing..what ones do i want to use and such? the guy just told me to use any old bolt nd crank it down but that doesnt sound right.....please help..phil
i say just goto exhause shop and ask them what they would do .. and see if you can scrounge the bolts off them. most will be tight asses about it though, cause your just getting free advice and not using their services
You say, "bolts that connect it." Connect it to what? Head? Downpipe? Cat? You reuse the ones from the stock one to the head. Downpipe any good sized bolts that will fit will work. And to cat reuse those again as well.

Agree with everything he said. I think the ball and joint bolts are either 5/16 or 3/8" by about 3" long.

the ball and socket bolts are 3 1/2" x 3/8" , 2 needed
6 washers
2 nuts
2 springs
at the head you re-use the studs and nuts
awsome ..thanks..anyone have a pic just so i can see how its set up..i have a good idea but pictures are awsome too..please help me..phil
it goes bolt , washer , flange , flange , washer , spring , washer , nut
also it is best to use a crimped nut , if you cant find crimped , double nuts will work
do not use a nylock nut
does it matter from bottom up or down..ie:bolt , washer , flange , flange , washer , spring , washer , nut from the bottom down pipe up??? or does it even matter? thanks alot for the help..phil
nope doesnt matter , as long as they are in that order
cool thanks...ill post pics when im done..phil
i didn't reuse those coil springs and mine works just fine
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
I just bought a length of Rod and cut it into 2 lengths and double nutted them. Don't make them too long or you might run into clearance issues concerning your sockets and such...I had one too long on my 2.4 but I'm not sure if it would cause problems on the 2.2!
oh, good luck!
Also, not to thread jack or anything, but would it be beneficial just to weld in another type of flex joint? Something more similar to DC's or RKS's? Just a thought because I snapped one bolt and replaced it but it still seems to have a leak and Im affraid to torque either bolt more!! Just a thought is all!!!!
if possible use something else than Pacesetter especially if it's the coated one it will rust like crazy and look really bad
if you want only go but no show'n shine you can use header tape which will keep the heat inside of the header and away from your intake

gotta love newbies
header wraps void almost all manufactures warrenties on their headers , and you will be buying a header alot sooner than letting 1 rust , the wrap causes the metal to fatigue and end up blowing out
ok..i just am in the process of installing this thing and i had to remove the starter to get it in but now i cant get the starter in.what do i do?
