I just did a search and can't find any sites that specifically sell the Comp Cams for the ECOTEC but if you call Comp Cams and see if there are any dealers that deal with them or if you can find a place that has a deal with Comp Cams youself, you can order from them. If you want to read more on the Comp Cams for the ECOTEC, you can go here:

Has anybody here ever got a striaght answer from Level Zero Motorsports about their Stage 2 cams specifications??
I'm looking at buying some cams and have heard people on this forum mention or even recommend them BUT
I sent an email requesting detailed specs and at first they said they wouldnt give me them because they didnt want them copied. When I asked them how they would expect a builder to seriously consider them without detailed numbers.
So they sent me this:
Quote:

Intake 263 degrees and 0.394" lobe lift
Exhaust 260 degrees and .394" lobe lift

Well to me this seems totally unrealistic as I have the ECOTEC rocker/follower ratio as 1.688 so that would make net lift at the valve a whopping 0.589" !! (stock L61 intake is 0.398)
So then I thought maybe I was given vlave lift and not lobe lift (although it didnt make sense that the Stage 2 lift was 0.004" LESS than the stock L61 cams)
BUT LZM got back and said their spec was LOBE lift (before rocker) which to me seems like WAY too much considering the cams in the 400-600HP section of the GM Ecotec Build book (Ver 2) shows thise cams to be 0.466" so I'm still skeptical of the specs they provided. LZM says sprcial pistons with valve reliefs are NOT required with their Stage 2 cams but I'm worried that if I bought them and put them in - that it wont even rotate!!

Has anyone ever used these cams or better yet , measure the lift / duration with a dial indicator and degree wheel?? Does anyone know the "base circle" dimension for the ECOTEC cams??

Thanks in advance for any assistance offered

OK so in my qoute above I miscalcualted the net lift of 0.394 it should be 0.665" not 0.589 !
1.688 x 0.394 was what I was supposed to type in my calc but I accidentally put 0.349
NOW I'm wondering if maybe that's what the LZM rep did as well?? (0.349 look a whole lot more believable given that the full race COMP CAMS intake spec that I have listed (PN# 8781) shows the lobe lift as 0.350 with 0.591 at the valve.
So I guess it's another email to LZM, although maybe going with the COMP cams would be a lot less work!!?? lol

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with LZM. There was a HUGE thing going on with their GP and problems with their camshafts. They had a big GP and everyone bought their camshafts like hotcakes garaunteeing 13 HP and no codes when people really got the opposte...little to no HP gains & 1-2 codes being thrown.

Their camshaft grind they were offering isn't that aggressive but it's just that the ECOTEC computer is way too sensitive.

If you want a list of popular/most used camshafts check out the ECOTEC Build Guide sticky for other companies or look more into these Comp Camshafts.

Here is the deal everyone. We can do a group buy if interested (let us know what you think). We can sell any of the 5 cam sets for 439.99 + shipping. Up to the first 5 orders only! After the first 5 orders they will be 499.99 each set. Post if you would be interested in something like this. Comp cams is giving us a deal for 5 sets and after that the 499.99 would be the best we could do.

Remember this is not a list for a GP just a interest gauge!

Re: where to get ecotec comp cams??

honestly, I know a friend who went with LZM and is cursing that company to his grave. Just goes to show you that with your calculations, you have almost an inch of lift. um, yeah.. like thats gonna work.

check out jbp, they have cams that are in several engines, WORKING.... They also have cam gears now, non-gm ones, in their cobalt section 2.0L... maybe they work on the 2.2???

Shipping would be a flat rate of $20.
Sounds like a 1-2 week wait is all. However we are required to place an order for the 5 at one time. So as soon as we would get 5 orders, it would be 1-2 weeks from then.
Here is some more info i received from them:

-Turbo Applications power from 2200-7000rpm .423 intake and .419 exhaust valve lift, 248 intake and 244 exhaust duration advertized (204 intake and 200 exhaust @ .050" duration) Wide power range, good power, with few modifications

-Street (Stage 1) Applications power from 2600-6800rpm .423 intake and .419 exhaust valve lift, 252 intake and 256 exhaust duration advertized (2010 intake and 212 exhaust @ .050" duration) States it works best with computer modifications

-Blower Applications power from 2800-7000rpm .423 intake and .436 exhaust valve lift, 252 intake and 262 exhaust duration advertized (210 intake and 218 exhaust @ .050" duration) No comment on computer modifications needed

- Street & Strip (Stage 2) Applications power from 3000-7500rpm .440 intake and .436 exhaust valve lift, 258 intake and 262 exhaust duration advertized (216 intake and 218 exhaust @ .050" duration) Requires computer modifications

-Street & Strip high RPM (Stage 3) Applications power from 3500-8000rpm .456 intake and .453 exhaust lift, 264 intake and 268 exhaust duration advertized (222 intake and 224 exhaust @ .050" duration) Requires computer modification very strong power over 5000 RPM

Any other Q's?

I'm in no way trying to sabatoge your G.P. but you guys do know that Crower grinds like
6 or 7 cams for our engine and they even grind the ones G.M. uses in there ECO race cars. Mr.Crower quoted me a price of $400.00 flat for both cams shipped the next day direct to my house. Just saying you guys may want to check them out and see if they'd do a G.P. cause it should put the price under $400.00 for both cams and I don't think your gonna be able to beat that price.

Just a thought.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
