Simple Exhuast question....
While looking under my friend meggs cav to adress the header install tomorrow, which one is the Cat?
She bought a Pace Setter full header (down pipe and all) but her b/f that has the header in his truck don't think the pipe is long enough to go to the "cat"
so, is the frist section the cat, or the resignator. We don't have access to a welder and we just saved over 400 bucks on getting the air ride installed by a local air ride enthusist, so were tring to save on the install of the header by doing it ourselfs.
So please, need an answer by tomorrow afternoon.
its a 02LS 2200 auto

it's designed to bolt up to your stock catalytic converter flange. there shouldn't be any welding involved unless you break something. in order not to break things, such as bolts on those flanges, do NOT use an impact. Spray it down with penetrating lube and break it free, then loosen. There is no stock resonator. Just the manifold, b pipe, cat and catback.

Spotabee, all 3 of my J's had a stock resonator after the catalytic converter...
Now the Pacesetter header slips into the stock Cat back pipes. My Eco header instructions said cut AT THE WELD FOR THE CAT... if you do that you can't use the clamp, so give it an inch or 2. The instructions with my 2200 header said to cut just after the B-pipe hanger...
Basically follow the instructions that came with the header and you should be fine, and the Cat is before the resonator
Odd enough. I have never seen a factory resonator on any J body I have worked on.

^^ haha! All the Jbody's youve worked on were modded. Nice
Does it go faster?

What the heck?!? Did GM put an LD9 in a sedan in 97? That sounds a little fishy to me...
