Bearing Replacement on 2.4, Any Tips, Suggestions?
Thursday, September 15, 2005 2:58 PM
I am going to order some Clevite bearings for my Z24. Assuming no major damage was done to the engine. Either way I am pulling off the pan to see whats going on in there. Whats the easiest way of doing this? I have a lift and every tool imaginable so thats not a problem, but one more question. There is a tool for timing and for putting in the balance shafts, is there a part number or something?

Thanks, wish my engine luck
Chris

I wish I could help ya... but I don't know THAT much about the LD9 yet, I'm a pushrod guy. But here's a free bump and a good luck to ya bro.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

Have the crank inspected at a good shop, as it will likely need to be cleaned up a bit after spinning a bearing. Now's a great time to get rid of those balance shafts and use a 2.3 oil pump as well (to prevent it from happening again). Good luck.

Yea, I am going to clean up the crank while I am in there, make sure it looks good. I think I caught it early enough where I may have smashed or spun it, hopefully not bad damage to the crank. I am hoping this is a 100$ fix! The oil pump however is tempting, how much are they?

One there is no tool needed for the balanced shafts, or timing the car. Next to do the 2.3 oil pump motor has to come out and custom work done. SO for what you are trying to do nt going to happen.

something I just thought about you could get a JBP oil pump. there are suppose to have more oil pressure than stock ones.

As for your bearings. You do not have any motor shps in your town? When i rebuilt a 96 2.4 we got them from a local motorshop.
