Ok so I got a Pacesetter ceramic coated header free this weekend and looked at the exhaust port size and it seems tiny as hell !! This leeds me to my questions. First off does anyone know if the port size on the head is also this small? Cause if so I have some porting work to do BIG TIME. Also I'm planning on new cams and a G.M. supercharger when ever they come out with it so 3 inch exaust should work real well
right? I'm still gonna run the y pipe in the rear with the two 2 1/2 inch thrush muffler
sound like eveything should work o.k. to you guys?

yes the head ports are just as small on. a P&P on the Eco head does wonders. and of course if you port the head youll want to port the header flange as well. i wouldnt go more then 2.5 all the way personally even with mufflers and cat and what not

The one, the only, ME.
if the car in your reg is the 1 your asking about the eco exhaust ports are smaller than the port on the pacesetter header

Funny cause everything you described I've done...lol
jackalope, you should have just asked me in the first place. I have a P & P head from Patriot which also has upgraded springs & retainers. After installed I noticed faster reving, better top end power and more torque. My only issue is getting a proper tuning out of my SAFC-2 because you will start to run rich when you upgrade your cams and/or head. If your getting the reflash in the future, than you should be ok but still invest in an Fuel Management System (Piggyback) for future tuning purposes.

Thanks guys. Killa I'm gonna do my own port work I have the tools and know how and I'm soooo much cheaper then Patriot is. But I'm only planning on running the stage 1
cams from either Crower or Crane. Now with these cams and a port job do you think I'll still need to piggy back the ecu? I'm not planning on the huge cams just the mild ones
but those ports being as small as they are I know the cams and my port work the engine should run great.

Yeah, that will save you tons of money...I don't have the tools or the know-how to do that kind of thing so I was out $1200 LOL.
With the increased airflow and our sensitive computer on a high grind of camshafts, yes, you will need a piggy back. Initially, I installed camshafts w/o the p & p head and come to find out I was running rich...I have JBP Stage 1 camshafts, nothing radical. I didn't throw any codes but I still was running a bit rich and it effected my top end BADLY.
I'd suggest an SAFC-2...if you need the pinouts to hook it up, I can give you that info.
Your engine should run very nice and smooth with that kind of upgrade.
