Yes, i have a 1998 cavalier z24, i was wondering actually how much horsepower would a 4-2-1 header with a high flow cat, and 2.25 piping all the way back would give me, any opions, i want to here about them.

I don't know about numbers, but it will make a nice very noticeable difference in performance for sure.

go out and have your car dyno'd before and after, its the only real way to tell

If I had to make an educated guess i say prob. around 15 - 25 hp increase.
15 on the low side being if you have a good flowing exhaust right now. 25 on the high side if you have a factoty setup with restrictions, like a bad cat or collapsed muffler.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

thanks for the answers, im new to all the tuner options, been looking around alot, and i have really no clue where to find a dyno, and how much it would cost to test my car, if any ideas, i live in the south eastern part of michigan, about 30 minutes from detroit.

I wouldn't give it more than 15hp, tops. I had that setup, and yeah, it made a difference for sure, but not something crazy. I still think my TB and intake did more than all of that combined.

I just put a 2.5" cat back with resonator on my otherwise stock 2.2 EcoTEC. I noticed a definite increase in upper range hp, plus a deep sound. It's actually almost too loud.

there's no way to tell without dynoing in the exact same conditions before and after. but it's most likely something around 15 horsepower to your wheels.

All this talk of exhaust has got me wondering about mine...i have the magnaflow catback system on my car(single outlet)(97 z24) and i love the sound except for a the little bit of raspyness when its warm, and the horrible raspyness when its cold....when its cold it doesnt sound like a car at all really....its almost like a bug hitting the inside of a can. over and over again. but like i said its alright when warm... does anyone else have the problem with the catback sys. from magnaflow? im sure adding a resonator would help me out with this, but what do you guys suggest brand wise? thanks

magnaflow or thrush make good resonators. just make sure you order one the same diameter inlet and outlets as the rest of your exhaust piping, which would be 2.25". Get about an 18" long resonator and your car will sound gooooooood.

you will always get a little bit of raspyness when the engine is cold and all your exhaust piping is cold. that's normal.

use google.com and type in resonator or glasspack

look for perforated cores not louvered.

some people run resonators longer than 18". If you still want it moderately loud, go with a 16 or 18 inch. That will be plenty good for ya.

I've been doing google searches and yahoo searches for "resonator" "glasspack" "exhaust resonator"....you name it.....still not having much luck finding any sites with resonators for sale. if anyone can get me some links to some sites with good resonators at a fair price it would be greatly appreciated.
