Ive been reading through this forum and learning what I can about exhausts, their dynamics, what sounds good, etc. I know this is the basic exhaust a lot of people are running, however, I need part numbers and have a few questions.
The magnapacks:
Are they steel mesh filled or glass filled?
How do they look on the inside? They don't have cheese grate do they?
Were is the best place to buy them and whats the average cost? I'm thinking an 18" will do just fine.
The magnaflow straight through muffler:
Correct me if I'm wrong but the are steel mesh filled and DO NOT have the cheese grate internals.
What part number is most people running?
Where to buy?
How much I'm looking at to pay for one?
What is their average life span?
Also, I was looking at summitracing.com and saw their glasspacks. How long to they last before the glass becomes worn and doesn't offer good resonating capabilities? What do the insides look like? I don't want something with cheese grate internals.
I am going to put this all together with 2.25" crush bent tubing. Good choice or bad? Also, I understand that the sound will not be perfect because I'm only building a cat back exhaust and the tubing upstream is a smaller diameter. this leads to incorrectly balanced waves. Will this harm performance?
Thanks in advance.

i have the 14815, and it has "cheese grate internals" but it sounds great
Also if you're gettin a catback, crush bending is a total waste of money and u wont get performance gains. compression or mandrel bends will retain a better bend shape and give u some power gains.
if you take some time and read magnaflows site, theres a big banner at the top that says STRAIGHT THROUGH PERFORMANCE...all of their stuff is perforated core, not louvered...

also if you take some time and read about their mufflers, it shows the inside and the stuff thats inside and tells you what is there and what it does...
as for part numbers, visit their site, pick the muffler YOU like the look of, in this year alone i have seen atleast 35 different part numbers people have listed... not everyone likes the cannon fart can look, alot of us have regular oval mufflers with tips...
thats the main difference in different mufflers, to pick something you like to see on your car.

think about it... like demon said, it hinders performance...
if you were gonna be thrown in a tube, which would you go through easier.... one with a bunch of louvers in there of a tube of the same size with small holes in it....
the one with the louvers you would pretty much get shredded and slow down while inside....
also do a search on bends... in the past week i know i;ve posted in 3 posts alone discussing the type of bends to shoot for.
Any word on the summit racing glasspacks. They sell them for like 20 dollars. Also, I looked around magnaflows website and must have missed the resonators. Link possibly?
Event, can you give me the links were you talked about exhaust bends?
