Ive got the rsm lower mount in my 97Z and im starting to think about taking it out and putting the stock one back in because of all the vibrations. Anyone else have these same feelings? the vibrations dont seem to be worth the gain, and to be completely honest i didnt really notice much of a gain. i could tell the first time i drove it right after putting it in but now its kinda meh.....let me know what you guys think.

Could it be because you are used to it?

but is the horrible vibration actually worth it? that much vibration cant be good for the car, and its def. not good on the ears.

once you have a whole lot of engine mods i've heard it becomes worth it.
If you had a header... and you didn't have these mounts... you'd break the header. It becomes "worth it" then.
Performance doesn't come without other sacrifices. Stock, these cars are slugs and quiet. Adding performance parts usually adds noise (not to be confused with adding noise without performance... ie a fart cannon muffler)

the mounts also limit engine movement , which allows the power to be put to the ground quicker , also allows easier shifting , and better road feel
Do you have to change motor mounts when u get a header with a flex pipe also? Is the vibration that bad in all the cars?
ive heard from some people that the vibrations arent that bad, but as for mine its bad, but not unbearable....the only thing i dont like is the sound between shifts(5spd) and and the vibrations when downshifting and slowing down (as opposed to just pushing in the clutch and coasting) Now does anyone out there have this mount and suggest anyway of reducing the vibes? my only guess would be dynamat but its out of my price range right now...any suggestions?

If you didn't know you were going to have more vibrations before you bought them product, you should have done more research.
The reason vibrations occur is because a stiffer motor mount transfers the "used to be" movement into the chassis which in result makes the rest of your car and yourself to vibrate more.
As far as gains, I don't know what you were expecting to gain out of it. Your not really gaining horsepower but your gaining in response.
It might take some time for you to get used to it but honestly, I love the vibrations and it only occurs when you are at a dead stop. If you want to take it out, it's your car...but I'd rather keep it in and have the better response.

I only have the upper, and my header is getting along just fine, thank you. I refuse to get the lower mount because of the vibration issue. Plus, I actually think it's useless as a performance mod. The upper is the jellyfish of the bunch and really needs to be stiffened, but the bottom mount is already pretty stiff. The little bit og give it does have isn't gonna make a whole lot of difference other than seat of the pants feel. (vibrations work wonders on a butt dyno) But I know I'll get flamed for saying it, so in my defense, let's see some dyno sheets, and/or track times of before and after lower mount installs with nothing else changed and let's see how much it really does.

i have the prothane ones from karo and they have no vibrations at all compared to the old Rk sport lower motor mount.

Not sure how that is possible since Prothane makes RK Sports lower engine mount.

There were two generations of mounts used as far as I know. The first ones were solid as a rock, and the 2nd ones were a bit softer.
I have had the original solid as a rock mounts from Karo and also have one with the Mark Pain softer bushings. Both shake my car like crazy between 1400-2000 RPMs (of course the MP one is quite a bit smoother). I only put mine in when I take it to the track. Otherwise, it stays in my toolbox at home. I do love how solid the drive-line gets when the mount is in, but it wasn't worth the noise and vibration for myself during my 40 mile commute into work every day.
Also have to remember that every single engine is different with these mounts. Like I said, my engine happens to be one that shakes and makes noise with these mounts. I have ridden in other cars with the mounts that were smooth as can be. Every person has a different tolerance level for this stuff. You just have to decide what that level is for you and make the appropriate changes to suit.
my vibrations are TERRABLE also, like i am getting used to them but they still are REALLLY bad.. i was riding with my buddy in a GOLF and boy i was jelous on a red light i dint know the car was on.. and was sooo smooth.. that made me think twice about the engine mounts..

I actually did do all the research on the vibrations(mostly on here) before i put it in and most people said it wasnt too bad......as for the vibrations on being when you're at a full stop is bull. that may be for an auto, as for a 5spd.....dont think so. as for the gains, i wasnt expecting to gain HP...im not that stupid, i was refferring to the torque gains.....and the whole reson i brought that up is because it almost seems as if ive lost torque since the install of the mount......but i know thats not from the mount....(see maintence forum: "wear and tear?") yea, i could feel it at first, and you're right im probably used to it.....but it sounds so bad in the car...it almost completely drowns out my exhaust.

That has got to be one of the most ill informed statements I've ever read on here. Don't you know that HP is a function of torque? If you gain torque anywhere in the power band, you also gain HP at the same spot in the powerband. Hp = (Torque X RPM) / 5250. (or something like that).

its a mount, it does not add any power, it doesn't do anything, it has no moving parts, its simply holds the engine solid in place instead of having a bit of flex.... which does has advantages, keeps the header/flex pip from rubbing on the stearing rack when you go with full aftermarket exhaust, also keeps the aftermarket intakes (example = Weapon R intake on an eco) from denting the hood when the engine rocks back.... in reality if you fell any difference in power your full of @!#$, you will feel more vobrations and a tiny bit of help in the wheel hop department, nothing else

You honestly think that the extra little vibration a filled mount is going to do is going to do more damage vibration wise to the car/your ears more-so than those subs in your trunk???? lol

And again I have to say, WRONG! Go ahead and show me a dyno sheet where you get more torque from installing any kind of motor mount.

correct
with performance mounts there is no absorbtion of energy.
through the stock mounts they are made to absorb the energy from the engine to make it a civillzed car.
hence the vibrations with performance mounts

hows just the upper mount for the 2.4 do for vibes/tq increase? Id wanna keep the vibes down like the stock, but maybe have something for a tq increase.
