Motor Swap

Ok lets start off with I have searched
I'm still in the starting stages of this and planning it as a winter/spring project
I have a 2002 2200 motor
I'm trying to find a 2000-2002 2.4 motor I have some good leads but I want to make sure I have everything correct.

My car is manual so I'm looking for a manual (common sence)

I will need

Motor
Transmission Getrag (will my mounts work?)
Engine Harness
ECU reflashed
Cooling lines
Power steering lines
Rad
Axels
Exhaust

I found this while searching

This is exactly what you need and you will also need the PCM out of a manual or just get your friends VIN number or someones that has a manual and take yours to dealership and they will reprogram it.
*2.4L tranny
*Tranny mounts
*bolts for the tranny mounts
*bolts that go through the mounts
*Chassis brackets (need to be MIG or TIG welded)
*Flywheel
*Flywheel to crank bolts
*Pressure plate
*pressure plate to flywheel bolts
*clutch plate
*alignment tool
*slave cylinder
*Both axels
*Complete front wiring harness(different sensors)
*ECU reprogrammed by GM
*Shifter
*shifting cables
*shifting cables bracket
*bolts to mount shifting cable bracket
*clutch pedal
*master cylinder with reservoar and lines

That is pretty much it, and knowing how to make it all work

And for those of you saying why are you going to spend "X" amount of $ on this for 35hp it is for the wide range of internal mods that can be done. Things for the 2.4 are easier to get your hands on then the 2200, and this will not be an N/A motor.

For those of you wondering whos doing all the work it will be me and a friend that works at a GM dealership. My Grampa/Uncle own the dealership so I can use the shop on a Saturday/Sunday. Considering this will be a winter/spring project I can take my time building up the 2.4 before it needs to go in and the car wont be on the road at this time so......

Please give me any pointers you have to offer. If I'm missing something to my list please let me know.

Thanks

just build and boost the 2200, it'll save you time and money. i don't see the reason of going through all that trouble when both motors have just as wide of a range of aftermarket and building possibilities.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

Yeah, it's pretty easy if you already have the 5 speed... the mounts are the same... but the tranny case is different (the bellhousing piece that sit between the engine and tranny.. but you could change that if you really wanted to). The gear ratios are different between the 2.2L and 2.L, so you'd want to change it anyway.

Get what you listed and you're good to go

I'm planning a gm supercharger and I personally dont like the look for RSM's supercharger. If I'm taking the motor out anyway why not throw in the 2.4 and if the price is right why not? I'm fully mechanically inclined and with a hand from my friend we should be fine. The spec's of the motor build I have not deceided on there will still need to be some research behind it but I'm sure everyone will see a few more questions when it comes to ratios after I have done some more searching. But those are minor detials lol.

Thanks for the input John Lenko
