searched, but i still got q's...ive decided to do exhaust next, keep the stock cat for now and get new pipes back.

i like this setup...

what are your thoughts?

what size are stock pipes and what size should i do?
or should i just do single exhaust w/ new pipes and muffler?
i was serioulsly thinking of a flowmaster 40. or should i go magnaflow? would like work w/ the setup i posted?

any help is appreciated, thanx in advance

the stock size pipe is 2". i honestly like the sound and performance of a single 2.25" catback on a n/a 4 cylinder over duals. get yourself a 4-2-1 header, which will include the b pipe, and have custom 2.25" catback made at a good exhaust shop. you don't need mandrel bent it doesn't offer you impressive gains over standard compression bent exhaust. and any muffler of your choice that has a 2.25" inlet. if you want it to be really quiet, get a 18" resonator and have that installed as well. it will deepen your exhaust note and quiet the car down a ton, while also reduce the buzzing created by the header and catback.

I second everything he just said.....I did pretty much just that but without the resinator and I have no regrets.

yea. some do and some don't. i know i'm not going to add a resonator to my new exhaust setup, which i hope to have done by thursday because i leave for NOPI in St. Louis on Friday. at least my new setup won't be as loud as it is right now (full 2.5" exhaust, no cat).

one step at a time, im gonna try the 2.25 pipes and a flow40 for now, then ill do the high flow cat, then ill get a header (wheres the best place to get a 4-2-1 header?). thats kinda what i was thinking before, but i though it would look good with duals, but im gonna do this more for performance than looks.

has anyone else used the flowmaster40 on their 2.4? how does it sound?

I have that same exhaust except i am using a Dynomax Superturbo. Dave in the pic used Dynomax Ultraflo. Technically it is a single exhaust. I did mine with a Pacesetter header, highflow Cat, 2.5 Cat back 29" resonator and Camaro tips. Sound pretty sweet not to loud but a nice deep tone.

i love my dual 2.5" header back set up! [yes i have dual can mufflers, no i do NOT sound like a riced out honda on crack!] i'm also running a 4-2-1 pacesetter header with a custom made 2.5" down pipe with a 2.5" cat.

cheapest place to get a header is ebay. personally i think flow 40s sounds like @!#$ on a four cylinder, but whatever floats your boat. i have an HKS can and custom catback currently.

I too have the Dynomax Ultraflow SS Camaro style on my car. As seen here:

I also have an OBX 4-1 header and high flow cat, so its all 2.25 all the way back. It has an awesome deep, mellow tone when warmed up but is a bit raspy when cold, it's just too open, a resonater would solve that problem though.

^^ that's interesting. i'd probably go a route like that if i did my swap. but it'd be true duals (no not a four cylinder)

Between the Super Turbo and the resonator, the sound is PHENOMINAL. It's deep and mellow all the time - just slightly louder when you're really on it. There's no raspiness whatsoever, unlike my previous setup which used an Ultra Flo.

I know. I try to tell people the Dynomax for the Camaro is not the same as the Superturbo that is similar to the stock size exhaust
