I just bolted up a Megan Raing exaust yesterday on my 03 Cav. I picked it up on ebay for $260. It's a 2.5" stainless steel cat back. It came in two pieces and unlike the pic on there website it doesnt have a resonater. However this exaust sounds great, its alot deaper than my old setup, and its not raspy at all. I can really feel the difference.

Hi xMIKEx. Great feedback. Do you have more pics of this exhaust? unbolted? what about the quality? how is the converter - pipe joint? what are the dimensions of the muffler included?
This could be my best option for exhaust needs.
Regards,

remember to get a listen from outside as well...
when in the car many hear and feel vibrations (bass) than what it sounds like outside the car.
mainly saying, the sound you hear inside the car can be 180 degrees on what you hear outside the car as it passes people by...
Unfortunately I forgot my camera during the install. If I put my car back on the lift anytime soon I will take some pics. The quality is top notch, the welds are beautiful and fitment was perfect with the exception of the rear hanger. During the install we realised that the rear hanger couldn't be used. The hanger holds the muffler to high and we had clearance issues with the rear frame and bumper. So the rubber mount was scrapped and holes were drilled through the body exhaust hanger bracket and through the bracket on the exhaust. We then slid the mufflers hanger over the body exhaust hanger bracket and bolted it together. This leaves only about 1/4" gap between the muffler and the body. The only other real dislike is that the new exhaust didn't come with and exhaust gasket. The joint where the pieces meet is a slip over design with a U-bolt and bracket provided. I might have this welded later. The exhaust bolted to the stock cat with out a problem, we just had to grab 3 new 9/16 bolts and nuts (not provided). I will take some measurements of the cannister and post that for you later.
Outside the car as well as in the exhaust has a rather deep note to it. Its only raspy at first start up and the raspyness go's away rather quick.

Hey I also just got the megan racing cat back for my 03 cavy, from ebay also. I really like the sound, very nice and deep, even from the outside. I don't know about the hanger issue that xMIKEx had, mine bolted right up to all the stock hangers. The only downside that i would say for this exhaust system is that the outlet tip is 4in, to me that is pretty big, but i got used to it. Other than that the welds look very good, and the stainless steel pipes look awsome. I would recommend this exhaust to anyone.
Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger
i know the 4" tip on my magnaflow fills the opening of my 02 lips on my cav , and i know the 4" fills the 03-05 ls sport bumpers nicely also
any good pics of the system ???
What muffler comes with that kit? the n1?

^^^ Yeah it comes with the N1 "Style" muffler, my friend has a Megan Racing Muffler on his custom system for his Supra and it is exactly like the N1.
thanks. I didn't want to go 2.5" pipe so i'd rather have a shop bend me 2.25". Much cheaper then the whole cat back too

Megan Racing makes great products. I've seen many of their headers and exhausts for Hondas and Acuras and I was surprised the first time I saw their catback for our cars. If I didn't prefer the custom job more... I'd probably go with the Megan Racing just because less people have it than say Magnaflow.

damn..... maybe if I email them, they'll make a 3" setup for me....... since Johnny Mack isnt into J's no more..... I cant get my 3" from him.

Hey xMIKEx, what exhaust did you had before Megan Racing's one?

I had a 2" with a SPW titanium N1 muffler.

so... basically a stock catback with a muffler? why?
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
At the time I was thinking "why pay to go 1/4" bigger when I'm planning on adding a turbo kit" I would have spent money twice to do the exhaust instead of just doing it once. Replacing the muffler alone freed up the exhaust enough to feel a difference.

Is there a place to get the Megan Racing Catback other than Ebay?
I searched the web and I couldn't find anyone that sold the exhaust except on ebay. On MR's own site and all there vender's sights the only thing they say they make for the Cav. is lowering springs.

we need more pics cuz my car will be needing a 2.5 inch soon and i want to know what that looks like. im glad it fits so well thanks for hte input.

Maybe is not listed because they are selling a catback from other car that can match J-bodies. Is that possible?

it is....
there are a few ebay companies that just get the over the axle part bent locally, then sell parts from other catbacks...
the over the axle part is really the only unique part of the pipes, everything else is universal 90 degree bends and straight pipe.
a few posts a while back you could see what was off....
on with the pics, i want to see what this looks like on a cav.
thanks a ton for the pics, seeing that it doesnt come w/ a resonator is there anyway to keep the deep tone w/o one. I have the OBX header now and a catco highflow cat what else could i do to keep the tone deep.
This clamp is in the wrong position. You should move it about 1-1.5cm to the right, so that it doesn't overlap with the sqeeze relief slots. Then tighten it really hard. Personally I would also change it for a heavier gauge clamp. I bet you can feel an exhaust leak with your hand in its current configuration.
Do you have a picture, taken from underneath the trunk, of the exhaust bend going over the axle?
Cheers, Ray
