i have a 99 z auto with 100k ihave a cai, complete pacesetter exhaust, and upper and lower engine mounts, and about 1500$ to spend
convert to stick, turbo, have fun :-)
"I live my life a quarter mile at a time..." "for those ten seconds or less I'm free"
with that money if i had an auto z I would get a TQ converter with a stall and spray
spray,throttle body,tranny mods
how about a B&M shiftplus? I know of 4 people around my area that have installed one, and they say its a blast to drive.
Its rather inexpensive too and takes about 15 minutes to install.

well i dont think im gonna switch to manual i would but it seems like to much crap to do for a stick about the torque converter what exactly is it gonna do for me and how much do they run
already i did some research and i understand what they do whatshould i choose for the stall it is still gonna be a daily drive and i dont want to be revving to 2200 rpm just to move

you need to do a bit more research then....
my stall speed is 2800 and i move when i go past idle which is 600.
matter of fact, if i let off the brake at idle, i move then as well.
raising the stall speed doesnt mean you dont move until you get to 2200 or 2000 rpm...
find out what your stock one is, and then raise it 4-600rpm. not gonna hurt it or diminish driveability.
well how does it revv before taking off and i was thinking about n2o but i want power that is gonna be there 24/7
same way it did with the stock one....
seriously, unless you get a torque converter with a 5000 stall rate its not really any difference in daily driveability.

Seriously, I've contemplated switching over to a manual transmission and the price of getting a transmission, getting aftermarket parts (clutch, shifter, flywheel), having it switched out...I could have a built automatic transmission that can be more efficient in power than a manual.
Overall, it's not worth it to spend all that money.
To answer your question, invest in some camshafts, check out
Jbody Performance, they make nice camshafts for the 2.4 motors. Good Luck.

haha thats true
sunfiren2o, I bought an auto back when I wasn't that into cars and wasn't all knowledgable about cars. Also, I didn't know how to drive stick till my mom bought an Audi A4 1.8T and learned on that.

a crank pulley runs about $180 from RSM
B&M shift plus is about $40
Nitrous can run you about $550 depending on which kit
Nitrous Express Gen X-2 Accessory Kit $385
then you can have your stock TB bored out to 62 mm.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
i saw the b&m shift plus kit i like the way it sounds but what exactly does it do and i looked at the rsm i plan on getting some audio equipment but nothing crazy just like one sub could i go underdrive and should i get the altenator pulley with it
the shiftplus improves your tranny's line presure. decreasing the chance of slipage

Yeah, if I had $1500 and a 2.4 motor...I probably would save up for a GM S/C. They are real cheap now and days...might be for sale in classifieds, not sure if you can still purchase them from GM or not.

basically...
theres plenty ideas in this post alone, and also in the FAQ at the top of the forum
now would be the time for you to sit down and actually think about what you want and start planning out how YOU want to mod YOUR car...
unless you just prefer others to tell you what you should do and for everyone else to mod YOUR car...
be creative, and stay realistic.
well said event, well said.
