Just install my first performance mod. A WAI. It really sounds awesome. If it was not for this site, I would have been totally lost on finding a good intake. I do like how it sounds stock, untill I floor it, and then it sounds really nice.
Sticking with a sort of sleeper idea...
If I were to put on a header, with a cut-out before the cat, and left the stock piping after. Would it sound, and perform like a stock exhaust while the cut-off is closed? Or would a header change the sound or performance even with stock exhaust.
The idea is that it would be pretty much stock for day to day, but once a month or so when I want to take it to a track, I could open the cut-off, and have a open header pretty much. What do you guys & gals think of that idea? I could put a reducer at the end of the cut-off for alittle back pressure, so that I would not have the open header problems.
As far as your exhaust goes, your exhaust is only as big as the smallest part of it, so if your stock piping is still 2", then you might as well not have done anything else to it. Honestly, you'll gain a tad bit of power from putting a header on but if your going to do that anyways, save your money and it do it in 1 shot. It will be well worth it and much better flow of air which will give you better sound (deeper).
Also, a cut off seems kind of pointless...

Congrats on the intake. You have completed the first step of many. Invest in a set of solid mounts, available for best price from Karo at Carcustoms.net.
No, do not use a cutout system. Your cat provides you backpressure you need for low end torque on a naturally aspirated motor. If you had a turbo setup, then yes a cutout would do you just fine. Even if you installed a header, your exhaust would still be basically as restrictive as stock. Your exhaust can only flow as well as your smallest diameter allows it to. What I would do to quiet it down and still get the most performance out of it, would be to install a header, which will include a b pipe, and a 2.25" catback. Get the catback done custom, it's cheaper. Buy a 18" 2.25" diamater resonator from Magnaflow, and have everything installed. The resonator will quiet down your exhaust big time, deepen the pitch, and reduce if not eliminate the buzzing created by your header and catback combination.

To point out something Spotabee didn't...
If you get it custom bent, make sure it's mendrel bent

Not true. The gains of mandrel bending are virtually NOTHING over standard compression bent. There are three common types of pipe bending. One is crush bent... and judging by the name you should know to stay away from that. Compression bent ovals out the bend as opposed to a perfect circle, however no airflow is lost and no diameter size is affected. Mandrel bending is a lot more expensive, but leaves a perfect circular pipe diameter throughout. Event and I have agreed, compression is the best bang for your buck. Just because mandrel bending is "perfect" doens't mean it's worth the extra cost. You might gain 1 pony from mandrel piping versus compression bent. Just wanted to clear that up.

I would still rather pay the extra cash for a gaurantee perfect bend...which I did.

with mods like just an intake your gonna want a cut out, I out an elctric cutout on my car straight off the end of the header, with all the bolt ons, cams and nitrous (usually about 50 - 100 shot) it helped out some but still not real noticable gains, also with it full open you will lose power
Holy Shi0t someone said "backpressure and torque" in the same sentance and the poo storm hasn't come down yet on this thread.
Mandrel bending is nice, but like me, there is nobody within 100 miles of me that can do it, and Im still searching because I have a entire custom exhaust sitting here with no way to install it. I would settle for compression if I could find it.
