OBX Header question????
Thursday, July 14, 2005 1:45 PM
I have 2 part numbers H95952 and H95956. The first number is the part # to the 95-97 2.2, which is a 4-2-1 style.....the 2nd part # is to the 98-02 2.2 and it has a more 4-1 style. I have heard contraversy before on the port difference between the 2 different heads. but i also have seen supporting evidence that a header for the 97 can be used just the same on the 98 is this true???

I think they fit, but you may have a hard time getting the gasket to seal.

Why do you want to know? A 4-2-1 and a 4-1 aren't going to make any difference in output on a 2.2l (at least a noticable one). I think you should get the one made for your year.

The only actual differanc ein Power oer say, will be where the torque curve and HP curve is.

i have the obx 4-2-1 on my 01 2.2 (2200). It fits just fine.

I know that the 4-2-1 is for more low end tq and hp, versus the 4-1 style which is more high end. I was curious cause im looking at the 4-2-1 style but I have a 2200 motor but if grillrd is using the 4-2-1 set up on a 2200 I should be fine....thanks

You have to be really careful getting the header gasket to seal correctly. And the ports don't match up 100% perfect, but it's close enough and it will still give you gains. I would go with the 4-2-1 header. I like the gains I got from mine and the o2 sensor stays in the same spot, no having to relocate and extend it.

and your o2 sensor only reads 2 cylinders also

which is not good , and why pacesetter changed theirs

the long tube 4-1 is as good as the 4-2-1 header

I'm glad they finally changed their design. I still like the low end torque gains from the shortie header as opposed to the longube.
