my dynojet results

hey i took my car to xotic motorsports in PA today and got it ran 4 pulls for $50 before i order my gm supercharger at the end of the month and i have a rsm 59mm tb, pacesetter header, custom 2.25"catback with 22" muffler and a intake so does my numbers look decent or low? thanks

Pretty decent I would say. You dont get the 10-15 HP as advertised on many many mods. But as you add more mods, to free up the airflow etc they kinda stack more on each other or they work better with each other. Not too bad tho.

I`m confused.... were the pulls in different gears? how are the 4 all different and that cant be wheel horsepower or is it? it says 164hp and 171TQ on the sheet and they told you that you have 128hp and 127tq how is that possible? I`m getting my car dynoed soon so I really want to understand this.

How did you gain almost 20whp on the same day? You didnt list any sort of tuning software at all

what you mean no tuning software? its dynojet's winpep7 program.

Re: my dynojet results

i averaged the 4 runs and got 155 hp and 163 TQ so i guess not too bad.

not sure but those #s you posted could be computer corrected for alt and temp, where as the 128 hp and 127 tq could have been actual readings.

Is there anyone who actually knows the difference and why the 4 runs are so different... This doesnt add up the sheet says one thing and they tell you another? I`m hoping to hit the 180whp mark when I put my cams in and I just wanna know whats up with this.

i was told the 4 runs are so differant because the engine got warmer and it runs better when its warm, makes sense

heat soak is the devil. if you go to a dyno make sure they have a HUGE fan to get air through the radiator and to keep the air going in cooler.

the first time i dynoed was in a garage where the ambient air was oh....maybe 50 degrees. we turned the heat off just so we could get good air. we put a huge fan in front and let it rip. first run was 207WHP. second run 203WHP. third run 195WHP. even with all the steps taken to make it cold the motor and turbo get so hot you cant help but lose power. its the same way NA but mostly its the radient heat coming off the motor heating crap up. oh...and at the end of those three runs the manifold read 1081F on the infared pyrometer. thats some hot metal. i can only image the header on a NA car would have to be upwards of 5-600F

of course later in the day with some tuning i did make 222WHP/224lb/Ft @ 6.5PSI

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Ok do you mena why his 4 runs got better and better? Could be lots of reasons. When I have dynoed in the past I always got better with each pull. Depending on how he had been driving the car, it might have adjusted it self and gotten better.

Oh 180whp all motor not on a stock internal motor your not.

I would believe about 150 whp at best, but 155-160 seems way too much for his mods.

So he gained 30 whp from intake, header, exhaust and tb ?

Heat soak? 20whp? Try again...

My 3 consective runs on the dyno were like 191, 192, 195 and thats with a overheating blower.

So dont give me the heatsoak crap.... your n/a and varying 20whp... makes NO SENSE

Was Xotic having a dyno day? Thats a pretty cheap price I paid 40 for 4 runs when i went down a month or two back. Nice place I'll be going back there again soon.

Those are VERY good numbers for an NA 2.4

I wish his dyno sheet showed RPM and not MPH.

I would most definitely go off of the 128hp and 127 lbs of torque, considering you have an auto.

From looking at the chart... those are the numbers that I see your car running. (128/127) That spike at 65mph.. then the other at 100mph... That is where the transmission is shifting gears. You don't look at those numbers as they are not accurate.

If you had a manual transmission and you did that dyno pull in say 3rd or 4th gear only.. you would see a curve like what it shows between 75 and 100mph.
