i was just wondering can i take my cat off and pipe over where it was and if so would it sound bad with a diff muffler
year of car would be important, and which engine.
I have a '96 and it does NOT require an o2 sensor after the cat, and that is your determining factor.
Some guys have an O2 simulator to trick the computer into thinking its working properly.
I haven't had to worry about this, so I never looked into it.

i think most states require a cat to pass inspections. and just having a straight pipe wont do you anygood. unless you are pushing high horsepower

Besides it being illegal (I believe in everystate even though some have no inspection), it sounds like death. The only benefit (like 99redz24 said) is you are running a turbo...less restriction on the exhaust side, the better.

the type of engine you have doesnt really mean anything....
It will sound like crap, as it has been said. I know from personal experience. Then I got smart put on a highflow and realized I never gained anything out of removing it besides a horrible sound and a lovely glowing light shining in my eyes all the time.

LOL @ the cat ? again... best overall to keep the cat there (event persueded me to believe in it, at least for these smaller engines). You will need cat to remain street legal, and you won't gain anything by removing the cat.
yes u need the converter for n/a motors. i removed mine recently because the stock one smelled like rotten eggs. w/o it i lost all my bottom end. needless to say, im putting a high flow converter on asap.
o yeah, it sounds like a chainsaw too
