Who makes the best overall ENGINE MOUNTS?
Wednesday, June 29, 2005 12:28 PM
I've bought a lot of stuff from RKSPORT... Are their engine mounts good? Do I go with MP, car customs, RSM????
Well I guess I should say I've already ordered a RKSPORT lower engine mount for my ECO... Did I do okay with that purchase is the question.
Thanks

The striffer mounts are all about the same really , Gravana has them a little cheaper then RKsport. But I dont see anything wrong except price with RKsport.

he didn't screw up. the combo you're speaking of is for the ld9 and maybe ln2. for the eco the upper mound alone costs over 100 $

it looks like it just bolts the engine to the frame

the RKSPORT upper mount that bolts to the frame is ONLY for the ECOTEC because the eco you can't get an insert for.. SO yes the insert is the best for 2.2,2200, or the 2.4 but for the ecotec the whole mount is the best and only way (besides custom)

the Rk upper mount is the best one out there the lower ones are pretty much all the same

the best is if you can find some one selling the lower mount with the yellow bushings in from Mark pain... other wise you get huge vibrations when you use low end toqrue or when you are coasting with your foot of the gas at like 2200 RPM...

Vibes just seem to be inherent with the particular car. Autos are worse idling than 5 speeds.

ive been in 2 different 02 eco 5spds , and both had different vibes and sounds

those bushings that MP included with the mounts dont last that long.
now i hardly notice the vibes in my car. for most cars. they will go away

No, you can't use the eco mount, just like the eco's can't use our mounts. THE ONLY aftermarket UPPER MOTOR MOUNT is an insert, and thats it. You can't get a full solid one like the eco.

I just got my Lower Eco mount yesterday from Gravana. It was installed in about 20 minutes and the vibes aren't horrible. Only at certain rpm's. Like when your in fifth and only going 31-40 mph so now I just leave it in fourth at a higher rpm and the vibes are gone. The car even seems to upshift and especially downshift alot smoother.

Ron, actually you can but its not as bolt on as people might think. You need to change the block plate along with making a spacer as well. If your using the eco mount on the 2.4 you need the eco block plate along with maybe a 1/2 inch spacer on the chassis side to make sure the new mount sits in correctly so the engine does not move out of place. . . . . .

^ go through this guy

well worth it, and great customer service.

I'm loving my lower mount and poly control arm bushings.. very little vibration compared to stock, but stiffened everything up.
