So I'm complaing about my stock exhaust sound and my friend makes a comment about how a drill can fix that.
We laugh.
I go inside to pee.
I come back out to see the drill bit coming out of my muffler and him saying "is that too big?"
It sounded like @!#$.
right now I have an anchor bolt with a fender washer on there. Its basically a bolt with a nut on one end that has spring loaded arms, so you can put it through a hole and have the arms grab on the other side.
It seems to be working, problem is that it comes loose every so often.
Anyone got any cheap ideas how to patch this hole? If it involves taking this anchor bolt out, does anyone have any ideas how to get the nut out of my muffler? Cuz Im assuming if it falls in there it will rattle non stop.

Do you know anyone with a welder? If so, have them weld up the hole. Some paint might be in store to keep that spot from rusting.
or just go up to any auto parts store and buy one of their $20 Thrush turbo mufflers. They look stock, sound stock, and flow rather well. They are good mufflers too.

So this guy thought he could just start drilling away at your car? I mean if you went to pee, what would it have been 30 seconds for him to waite to ask your permission ... man, what a jackass. And I thought I was gonna lose it on one of my friends for slamming my door too hard everytime

And he's too good of a friend to let go over a hole. If you've seen my car you'd understand why I dont care so much anyways.

Muffler mender is your best bet.
You can get a tube of mender at an auto parts store for around $2. It's like a mortar mix, just squeeze it out, spread/even it out, let it dry and you're good to go.

I had a friend from high school who did that to his civic (drilled his muffler). Sounded ill. You wouldn't believe how many people there are in my part of the us who do similar things. I knew this kid who stripped...and I mean STRIPPED..his 89 sentra pos...took EVERYTHING out of the interior...even the gauge pod. all the seats, carpeting, dash...it litereally looked like a go cart. ran pretty quick though..once I went riding with him and had to sit on the sheet metal.
but yes, good friend or no, tell him to kindly never touch your car again...i threaten to beat people if they touch my car after I waxed it, lol...

around here some of the mufflers and exhaust systems are so corroded by weather and damage that they have lots of holes and sound like a "performance exhaust"
