as a general rule as HP increases, fuel economy decreases, this is not carved in stone. so your friends are only half right. yes you gas mileage may go down, but it has nothing to do with what brand muffler you have on there. it has more to do with the design of the muffler, than who's name is stamped on it.

no worries. my HKS can came all shiny. it's not shiny anymore. that happens when you drive the car, it gets hot, cools down, gets dirty, etc etc.

thats the dumbest thing I ever heard. Its definetly not true
a car engine isn't magical. chances are most modifications will make it run better. Although sometimes 'better' means crappier gas mileage.

oh yeah, my friend didnt mean that i would kill the gas mileage because the muffler's from OBX. he meant that it being an after market muffler would be what kills the mileage. and also cuz the muffler's HUGE. i can probably stick my whole fist into the opening of the muffler.
I also have a big muffler, the muffler itself won't make a big difference (I don't even think it will do one). A bigger exhaust will, but a muffler.........
to get the most out of your muffler. get a header, cat, resonator, and 2.25 inch pipe. custom bent of course

well thank u guys for all the info and help, but now i have one more question. i was just gunna install the one muffler from OBX that i have, but i was thinking of going and getting another one to keep my car w/the dual exhaust. how would it affect my car to have my car set up w/dual exhaust w/ the 2 after market mufflers? im talkin about gas mileage, and wearing out my car's engine.
Just mufflers, probably wont affect your milage enough to notice, and the thing about wearing out your engine is total bs
yeah man stop worrying I mean this is just a metal canister which air and gases go through it. There's nothing that can hurt your engine in there.

the BIGGEST reason for loss in milage is the persons lack of ability to keep foot off the floor
if you dont pay attention to the sound of your exhaust while driving , and drive the same way as before the muffler gets added , you shouldnt see any change in milage
its usually the person that drives by the sound of the exhaust that looses milage , cause they think the sound of the exhaust at a certain rpm is sweet , or they like the sound it makes everytime they lay their foot into it
OBX isnt bad i had a friend with one on a 2.2 and it was very deep sounding

alright guys thanks for all the advice. i just finished ordering my 2nd OBX muffler. i think as soon as it gets here im gunna go get mah mufflers put on. guys, im a newb ok so dont laugh at my next question. what's a 2.25 custom bent pipe? all i really want is for them to replace my stock mufflers w/my new ones. will they be able to do that? to just take off the old ones and weld on the new ones?
^^^that's something you would want to buy if you wanted more performance on your car instead of just a nice sound.

^^^^ oh ok. so then if they just put the mufflers on then i'd pretty much just get a good sound? sounds ok to me, cuz honestly im not really going for performance. all i really want is for my pig to look and sound good. im not interested in racin or in winning car shows. what im doin, im doin for me. i just wanna have somethin nice. -im really only saying that cuz i dont have any money : ) -
