just wondering if anyone might have some insight on this issue. my car, engine and all mods are listed in my reg. but it just isnt seeming to go any faster. im still waiting for the 29th till i can get to the track and see for sure, but could this be a possibility that im not gaining anything for some reason?
thanks in advance

Ive got the same problem. When I was stock I ran a 17 at the track with my 2.2 and now that I added a header and aem intake Im still running a 17
I say wait until you get some track runs before you jump to any conclusions. It might just be that you have gotten used to it and now you want to go even faster. Your best bet is to just run it at the track and see if your times have inproved and by home much. Good luck.
The track is not a good way to measure performance gains when you are talking about small modifications. There are many factors that could change your track scores, like tire tread, weight added to car, temperature, etc, etc.
Adding a header isn't going to give you a big increase unless you rebuild your entire exhaust. Right now if you haven't touched your stock setup that is probabally your bottle neck.
i have full 2.25 exhaust out the side

04eco, I would consider getting your head ported and polished, esp. if you have the cams. You have to be faster than a stock fire with those mods
It is probabally your launches that are hurting the 1/4 mile time. Have you been since you got the autotrans interceptor?
So with the new torque converter you dont feel a big difference?
I say check your fuel and air mixture, check your oil and spark plugs, and make sure you dont have any leaks in the intake and the exhaust. Sometimes little things like that make a huge difference.
BlackEco thats next yrs plans haha and my 60' times are the same as before
crackajax that converter is a help i can feel more torque steer so im guessing theres more power to the wheels and launching at 2900 instead helps so far on the street. im guessing either my plug gap or A/F also and oil was just changed and i keep it changed regualarly. my plug gap i changed a while back when i knew for sure i was running lean i set it at .035 instead of the stock .042 and they are stock plugs so im going to try and set the gaop back to .042 and see if that helps any
keep the ideas coming

keep in mind the weather is getting alot hotter and ALOT more hummid, that wil make a big difference in performance, your new mods may just be offseting the change in weather enough to where you feel like your cars not getting any faster
How big is your homemade intake? Is it short or long, and does the diameter vary? Also is the inside smooth? How was your TB bored? Your exhaust can only kick out as much as your intake lets in. Too much variation in your intake can limit the amount of air actually getting to the engine, specially if the air is fighting itself trying to get there.
the TB is CNC bored with no leaks and the intake is just a cone filter on the stock TB box

that may be a restriction to i know
Darkstars i can see that to cause it has been 85+ the last week but the main thing that concerned me and brought this post up was the fact that a, as far as i know, stock older neon 5 spd walked away from me at a 60 mph roll. all my mods are more top end gains so either he was spraying and was plain just faster then me or im not running right. i couldnt ask if he was or not. but besides that it just doesnt seem as fast as it should.

I mid 90s neon with the 2.0 liter motor is going to run mid 17s on the 1/4,
He had to have something done to walk away from you.
just an idea that seems to have helped me out a lil in the past. try resetting your PCM.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
are you throwing any codes that would hurt also (might be in limp mode)

being in limp mode suuuuuuuuuuucks

tb might be a bit too big....
granted you get more pull in upper rpms, you can loose velocity off the line, which can cause you to do alot of making up once you get up to speed.
you;re registry shows no suspension mods, so you might be having wheel spin or weight transfer which wastes the power.....
the hummidity can be a factor depending on the time you run. tire pressures as well.
just some ideas
Is your car making any unusual noise? And when was the last time you had a tune up?
One last thing, have you added any new weight to your car? You might also think about getting a better intake, I am not certain, but I can see how that can cause turbulance and restrict your air.
the plugs were replaced at about 30000 miles no unusual noises.
no new weight.
i can see what your saying Event about the TB ill have to work on the P&P head and oversized valves sooner then i thought then haha. suspension will be in next yrs plans, cause yes launching at 2900 rpms is a bit more wheel spin then with the factory stall speed.

hey man i feel your pain, i just swapped my engine, went from 2.2 to 2.4 and honestly aint feeling much of a difference....trying to get it figured out, good luck with yours.
i dont know man those red leds should be worth a second at least
but seriously
wait and compare time slips sometimes you get used to the mods and it doesn't feel as fast anymore but when you get a time slip in your hands you'll be able to see it is.
or at least i would hope so. good luck
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

When i put my head on (patriot performance stage II) i still had the stock TB. When I put a 62mm one on, it made a big differece, mostly down low. It will be worth it with the head. So do it soon!

First, if he was in limp mode, he wouldn't be able to go over 30 mph and would bog like crazy...trust me I know
I'm suprised no one has said anything to you but I bet your running rich. That was a big problem I had as soon as I installed my cams, I felt faster on low end but higher rpms it just would lag on power. Come to find out I was running rich and fixed it by installing an SAFC-2 and at first dyno tuned it but problems accured and lost info (bad installation). Fixed the installation and then street tuned it to my needs and I could litterally feel the difference. It was like "wow". Defenitley check that out.

wow ive noticed you really preach that SAFC-2 lol j/k i just might have A/F issues, the track day is only 2 days away now so ill see what happens and then when i get a chance ill get it on the dyno and maybe try some A/F tuning if i have the money
i have some student loans available and they are screaming at me to get the head lol but im not sure haha
thanks again to all for your ideas and help keep them coming, im sure ill get it figured out eventually haha
