Best Muffler for 2003 Cav....
Thursday, June 23, 2005 1:31 PM
I just purchased a 2003 Cavalier LS Sport and I want to make it really loud, however i do not have that much cash right now...I could afford a muffler so i was looking into Borla's because i have never had any problems with their products and they sound great. However, I was wondering what was the best muffler to get to replace the facory one. Also, are any other parts required to install the muffler because some of the Borla one's were 14" long and the stock one is about 30."

Pretty much any muffler that is not oval in shape, all the "fart can" style mufflers will give you a more civic like sound. It sounds like a swarm of bee's coming at you, sort of.

Flowmaster 40 series will give you a great sound. but not the "Really loud" sound you said you wanted.

hey bro i know just how to answer your question. i have 2003 as well. i put a borla universal turbo series on mine. first of all the stock muffler is 20" and the borla is 14" at the most. when you get it installed you can add an extension piece of about 6 inches before the inlets. then i had a lil tailpipe fabricated then put on a 3inch chrome tip. except you said you didnt have a lot of money to spare and that muffler is like 140 with shipping. good luck with your mod.

Hey Joe, check out OBX Mufflers. if you want loud, that is the way to go. I have one on my 04 ( I also had one before I got the header), and it just sounds great. I'm gonna buy one for my fiance's cav soon. I would go with this one:

OBX Muffler

$62 shipped and that guy is great to deal with (I have bought 2 mufflers from him)

Loud? Just replace the muffler with regular pipe.
Its not what I would do, but it would be loud.
