Well I went out the the junkyard and laying in piles of pieces was my donor car.
someone decided to gut the engine. but for some reason left the cam housings...
I end up wandering around looking for another donor car and give up. I went back to check on the remains of my former donor car... and saw the numbers on the cam housing.

So I stumble over to the cam housing and head for the front of the junker to pay for it.
31 dollars.
Now I just need to find me a 95 with the hex to drive my power steering and I'll be living in cam heaven.
Anybody know where I can pick one up besides a junkyard? I hear they're about 200 bucks from GM.
I just felt like I had to share my story with everyone. if not for the jbo >.> I would not have known these cams to even exist in the first place....

Went to a local junker. no 95 with the hex
I'm starting to wonder if I should just pay for the intake cam. anyone have any suggestions?

I just did my cam install last night... but I didn't get the intake cam in time
So I put the stock one back in. For 2 hundreds of an inch lift, and 4 degrees... it's not a big enough difference from stock to be worth $200 (to me, at least). The major improvement is in the exhaust cam... so that's what I went with.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
upon closer inspection of my cam I got to thinking "Damn this thing looks pretty aggressive..." the drop off is pretty sharp on that cam.
The casting numbers on the cam are right and the numbers on the casing match up...
maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Measure it.
90-93 HO and LO shared the same housings, same casting numbers... unless you measure it there's no way to be sure.
I measured my 2000 cams at the same time... plus wrote out all the part numbers... so I'll be updating those "Updating the Quad 4" articles soon

let's see.. if my memory serves me it's
Height of lobe (top of cam lobe to bottom of round part) - width (of round part) = Lift.
and you gotta do it in metric. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Yup... bang on.
Everyone seems to list lift specs in inches... no idea why.
My exhaust cam is .375" lift.. stock was 0.345".

Well I just measured my cam
1.78'' from top to bottom.
1.41'' width

.37 ish. (damn sig figs)
looks like I've got it measured right. I'd better double check with a digital caliper though. The one I used wasn't very precise and I had to guess slightly. I'm pretty sure I'm right on with this. but better to be sure.
