which exhaust would be best for me?

option A: monza 2.25 inch mandrel bent w/muffler and tip

option B: custom exhaust from a shop, with 2.5 inch press bent piping and a straight through flowmaster muffler and tip......

i basically want to know what i should do? go with the larger press bent piping? or stay with the smaller, mandrel bent? what would sound better and give me more hp?

thanks guys.

when you talk about exhaust systems, are you including a header and high flo cat, and 18"+ resonator?

Cause either way, both you stated will sound like crap, and give no real amount of power gains.

If your doing an exhaust the only way to go is mandrel bent piping. its a waste to get the crimped type. ive heard that monza exhasut sytems rust pretty quick. im not positive on that but it what ive heard. jbodyperformance sells a mandrel bent pipe for $150. all you have to due is add a muffler and tip. So it can be done cheap.

just a question on this, but it says from cat back, if you replace the cat, is there any pipe between the cat and the downpipe from the header? IE if you purchase a header w downpipe, new cat, and that piping, could you hook it up with amuffler and be mandrel all out?

On a side note, are there any sites that sell mandrel bent dual exit? or maybe a cheaper full exhaust i could hack off the mufflers on? THere are no places around here to do mandrel bends whatsoever.

no there is no pipe in between your down pipe and cat. so if you get a header, cat, that piep and muffler and tail pipe you have a complete mandrel exhaust system.

when you say dual exit do u want 1 muffler and two tail pipes or two mufflers? you can buy a single inlet/ dual outlet muffle and put a tail pipe to each side or just one. magnaflow sells mandrel bent tail pipe kits. just cut them and weld em. heres the link I also added a cheap kit you could enhance.

I would love to know that also. im in the market for an exhaust and thats seems like a good cheap way. JBP does say the piping is stainless steel so i think it should be good. Does any one on the .org have it??

i just talked with JBP and they said they are currently redoing their mandrel bent system because magnaflow has discontinued theirs, look for new products soon.

I was looking for actual dual muffler piping. With the type j rear i think it looks like its missing with only 1 muffler

are there any cheapo - mandrel bent dual muffler kits out there?

There isnt anywhere around here to do those bends, would it actually be worth me getting a cheap exhaust with mandrel bends and replacing everything cept the pipes, or just getting compression bends here?

if i buy a header, will the header come with the downpipe? thats where i get lost on this whole exhaust system. is the downpipe included on the header?

and if i get a high flow cat, will i have to weld the downpipe onto the cat,. or are there high-flow cats for our cars that have bolt-up patterns on each end?

and is the high flow cat going to be the same size on both ends as these mandrel bent exhaust systems? or do i have to get somthing made special? i dont know how much (if any) bigger the HF cats are on the outside.

does anyone have some links to some good high flow cats and maybe some headers? or some pics of how this all goes together from the header to the cat. because im having a hard time understanding this.

thanks!

When you say press bent do you mean compression bent or chrush bent. Chrush is alot more ristrictive then mandrel but the difference between compression and mandrel is very little. I would also recomend that when you do get everything together have it all welded together. And when looking at a cat if you are using 2.5in pipe get one which is 2.5in/2.5out. If you go 2.25pipe go 2.25in/2.25out.

yes, most headers come with the downpipe, some you use your stock down pipe. Cats come in all different sizes, just get a 2 1/4 cat and it will fit that pipe. I put a link to gravanatuning.com Gravana

custom is the best way to. have a local exhaust place bend you some pipe mandrel or compression, NO CRUSH BENDS! then pick a muffler of your choice. and might also want ot add a resonator too. and with just a cat back you might pick up some HP but not much.
to get the most out of your exhaust. add a header and high flow cat
