I was wondering if the cobalt ss engine would fit in my sunfire and how much work would it take?
Well.. no one's done it yet... so... be the first

I'm pretty sure it would fit since all it really is is an ECOTEC engine, atleast I would assume it would fit, as to the amount of work, who knows? Just like Mr. Lenko said, no one has done it before so there isn't a whole lot of info bout it. But if you do decide to do it, then all the power to ya and keep everyone updated!
You like that, don't you!!!!
5-6k
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
Will fit . . . but I think the tranny mounts are in a different location . . . also the upper mount is different as well . . .
I thought the cobalt had the 2.4 L ecotec????
no, the cobaly has a supercharged 2.0L eco, with a forged bottom end. There's talks the 2.4L vvt eco will come in the cobalt next year, if not, it's coming in the solstice and sky
i had that idea awhile back, as far as i know you would need the engine, trans? being the same engine i would imagine that the stock tranny would bolt up, the ecu and a full wiring harness, thats assuming the mounts are the same or can be made the same, you may just get away with making a couple new wiring connections for the supercharged engine to work with the factory harness but you'd have to compare wiring diagrams for both cars and see what new sensors that engine brings. would be a sick upgrade, and it would take all kinds of boost, you'd probably be better off to drop the supercharger, sell it on ebay for a chunk of change and make a turbo kit for it as that supercharger is a total waste on that engine.
