Well I accomplished something on my cavalier for a change.
All of you LD9 tuners out there. What should I do next? I'm trying to stay N/A so I'm thinking of going through my header/exhaust deal I've been meaning on going through as well as picking up a set of cams from the local junker.
Maybe even a new Crank Pulley. What are other things I should look at? Any new directions I could go?

so you want to stay N/A...header, high flow cat, cat back exhaust with straight thru muffler and one or two resonators. your profile says you already have the HO intake manifold with the 56mm tb and an intake which is good. you could port and polish the head, definately drop in a set of cams, add a crank pully like you mentioned to free up some parasitic drag and run thru the revs quicker, and you could even change the timing. all that and you'll have yourself one fun-to-drive, decently quick car. also it'd be a good idea to start some more suspension mods like new struts to add to your springs, sway bars and strut bars so the car handles just as well as it accelerates.

Good to stay N/A, I went turbo, got boost greedy, and as soon as 60k miles hit KABOOM! boost controllers are an evil thing...
anyways exhaust is a good idea, the most common place to de-tune an engine is the exhaust. our exhaust cam sucks, and the 2.4 exhaust system is the same as the 2.2 OHV exhaust, explain that one to me. Also if you port your head, you can definitely remove the most material from the exhaust side, it's all clogged up. Learn how to port CORRECTLY first though, it's an art, can't just glob material out.
after all you said up there, well get some higher compression pistons and take out those damn ballance shafts. Gets kind of annoying to drive though, untill the RPM starts comming in! Could also spend some money for a lightened flywheel, but it makes the car harder to drive, boy does the engine rev fast though.
22 miles per gallon and dropping fast...
A Header is a good start but I would also finish the entire exhaust system like said before.
Also, work on your tranny with a clutch & flywheel upgrade, that would help alot.

sounds good. the car's pretty fun to drive. well... moreso than when it was stock. There's a definite pickup every time I end up doing something. The greatest one was probably the cheapest and easiest to do and that was my motor mounts.
Busted up a few fingers doing the HO manifold and it's freeway tested and street tested. Took it out about 50 miles and everything was still holding together just fine I might need a little oil though. Everyone knows how these cars love to spin bearings.
Yeah I read on the quad 4 forums somewhere that the ld9 exhaust cam isn't the greatest thing to grace the inline-4. I know where I can get an Exhaust cam. The car I got the HO manifold from won't work because it's a HO. But the car where I got the 56mm Throttle body was a LO olds. Vin D. That's my exhaust cam right there.
I've never been very good at timing so I'll probably have a friend of mine come over and if I manage to find both cams then all is well. I won't install one and leave the other stock though, so it's both or nothing. Maybe someone can give me some pointers to keep in mind.
Suspension was another one of my concerns. the struts I use get a lot of use because the car is lowered a bit. I'm probably gonna invest in something more sturdy. Snice this is somewhat my Daily driver I don't want coilovers, I like my ride somewhat smooth. "somewhat" being the key word.
the car handles well still but wouldn't mind a rear strut bar and a few new things. and to top it off I'll probably need better brakes come to think of it. I'd better start saving up. I have a checkings/savings/car... 3 different accounts. every once in a while I drop a bit into the car account. it has 400 some odd dollars at the moment.. I think I'm gonna get the exhaust system done.
I hear the header in the 2.4 is a bitch to remove... I'll see what I can come up with,
Higher compression pistons scare me though. We're already running... 10:1 I believe? and pistons knock that up about half a point? 10.5-1? maybe I'm remembering my numbers wrong. "BANG" isn't a noise I'd like to hear anytime soon,,,,
