IAT no longer needed?
Saturday, June 04, 2005 12:29 AM
I see these cheap intakes on ebay that seem worthy enough, and i have heard a couple of you guys say they arent too bad. Now, my question, i see that on the pictures of the EXACT product pictures, that the IAT port or plug, whatever, isnt there, just looks like the hookups for the breather valves. Now, am i stupid or does it hook up to something else, or is it no longer needed, and, wont that bring a CEL? Im confused . Maybe i'll just stick with my ghetto rigged intake which is the stock air tube w/ a cone filter clamped on, and stock airbox removed. Any help appreciated. Might end up buying one for the looks.

you still need the IAT sensor. Sometimes you need to drill a hole, and sometimes ive seen you put the IAT sensor inside a supplied hose and connect it to a port on the intake itself.

Remember however, Those $50 Bomz inatkes on ebay are the same, do the same, and get the same HP/TQ gains as $200-$400 intakes.

You just pay for the brand.

email me at mattbeck16@gmail.com......ill sell you a red AEM intake tube with the hole for the IAT ( doesnt have the elbow to attach it to the TB and does not come with filter but you can be guaranteed it has the hole in it and then you can just use your cone filter that you already have and purchase a rubber elbow for it... email me an offer

Many people just let them hang out in the engine bay (keep away from areas with high heat). Air inside the engine compartment is nearly the same temperature as air outside anyway.
If you want, you can swap out to a thread-in sensor (search for a post from 97cavie24ls(JDM cav sedan™) in the boost forum for the part number) which can easily be tapped into the pipe.

The one I bought was a no name intake and it came with the pipe which had the grommet for the IAT sensor and breather. Let me see if I can find one........here you go this looks EXACTLY like mine intake if you look closer you can see two hookups on the tube itself.

nope I didn't have to do any of that to mine everything fit fine and the hookups are facing the inside of the engine compartment. I'll get a pic up later.

This is how mines looks like and I can def say I like the way it looks and it functions wayyy better then stock and possibly performs just as good as brand names.
