Its all about how much power you want to make, and how much you want to spend.

I think you should ask in the BOOST forum

a reliable system will run at least 3 grand. the gm roots is fine if you want everything done and under warranty, but doesn't make that much power. a turbo is a lot more complicated but the price varies greatly, "junkyard" turbo'd cars have been around a while many people have put together a system for 1-2 grand, but longterm relibility is usually an issue. if you said supercharger, i'd say vortech and those go for quite a few bucks as well.

the gm charger which im getting in few months produces 40hp and 40lbs or torque on most 2.4's, you say it doesnt produce much power but think of it like this, its 40 more hp then you had before right? and a turbo has to take time to buildup boost, and a superchrgers boost is almost always there at all times because it runs on the main car pulleys.

a properly sized turbo will produce almost instant boost with very little lag, if any at all, just like a supercharger. the difference is, the turbo will be at full boost much sooner than the supercharger will.
