Ok....
The brake booster vac line makes this huge loop over the back of the engine, right where my turbo exhaust housing is going to be...
Why?
Why didn't GM just go right to the booster vac port? Does this big odd looking loop serve some magical purpose? Some kind of myth blended with a wives tale that adding some extra piping to the booster port creates an imaginary extra couple in/hg on the vac line?
And most importantly... can I bypass it and go right to the vac port?

I don't know the answer, but I know exactly what you are referring to...
I was checking it out going - WTF? You should try to bypas it temporarily, and give it a shot- lemme know how you make out.

they do that to keep the fumes from the intake (fuel , oil ) from settling into the brake booster
atleast that is the reasons i was given from a college teacher i had that worked for GM for 25 years before becoming a teacher
Not sure why, but you should be able to put a turbo system on just fine. I have one with no problems.

I know part of the funky shape is so the metal-to-rubber part gives the line enough room to move back and forth when the engine slops around (when it's stock). Engine mounts solve that problem pretty quickly
I cut the metal line out and went straight over the engine... rubber hose.. no problems here!!
