Well the head and cams etc are all out of my car, and I have a ported/polished head on the way, but I have a question about the secret cam swap:
Why use a LO exhaust cam with less litf at .360 than a HO cam with .410 lift? Wouldn't the HO cam yield more power, or would it be open too long or what? I am not a cam guy, and was just wondering which cams to go looking for and why the exhaust cam for the swap was chosen.

Ohh and I have a friend that is telling me to just send my stock cams to crower cams and they can have them re-ground cheap, he wants me to use W-41 specs for the re-grond or true HO specs, what would the advantages be to the secret cam install?

because you need the 95 2.3L intake cam out of a 95 and only out of a 95 due to the machined hex head in it to drive the power steering pump.. and i believe the 2.3 LO cam is the best cam to complement it with the closest specs..
15.69@86.670 - stock 99Z
no cam sensor , power steering , and cam wont fit in the towers with out machining
HO cam=car runs like crap. The HO grind is too aggressive and the PCM freaks out and doesn't run right. The LO cam is a very good improvement over stock, but, isn't so aggressive that the PCM stays happy

Thanks, didn't think of the problems with the ECU with the HO or W41 cams. Hopefully I can find some now relatively cheap...

the Ho cam with the Ho chip will miss at 900-1000 rpm and it will be stalling if you go slower so it's a big no for the 2.4 Auto
W41 cams will stall at 1100-1200 with the W41 chip so it's a No for any 2.4
another thing, Karo had a modify W41 chip/ecm and W41 cams on his build 2.4 and he had some weird number. Really high torque and no Hp. The Ho cams were better.
But you ask for the EXHAUST cam, it shouldn't cause any problem with an Ho cam but the housing may need to be modify.

2.3 Ho
just curious im more of an eco guy so i dont know to much about this swap. but why not just put the whole head off a 2.3 on the 2.4 block.

you can do that too but you have to modify the head (IE drill the coolant hole) and use the 2.3 manifold. Yes it's better than stock.
Why people don't want to do it? the 11.4+ compression it give after the head swap. Alot of people don't want to put 91+ octane and work on a head that crack under heat.

2.3 Ho
but if you drill the coolant hole, would that not fix the overheating prob?? hell i put 93oct in my eco and all i have is i/h/e. just sold the nitous kit. but still use it.

My 2.4 head is ported and polished for the HO manifold and I am thinking of having a little shaved off the bottom to up the compression anyway, so I don't need a quad head.
You said it wouldnt be a problem to use the HO cam in the swap, but would there be any power gain? I doubt it would be very much.

milling ur head won't get it anywhere near the 2.3 head swap would in compression ratios

He asked about the exhaust cam....
