I'm looking for a great performing muffler, but one that is as loud and as deep as you can get on a 4 cylinder. Does anyone know of such a muffler?
((I don't have a lead-foot, But i wear steel-toes.))
A muffler by itself won't give you really any gains. If you want a muffler mainly for sound, I understand what you mean then.
I suggest Magnaflow or Borla mufflers. I personally have Magnaflow Stainless Steel and wouldn't go for another style. Make sure you get the oval style mufflers, canister will give your more raspyness than you want.
Go to
www.magnaflow.com's website for their product # and check out different prices online and at your local performance shop.
Good luck

Tuck you in, warm within

Till the sandman he comes
OBX no question. Go to Ebay and get one for about $70 to your door. I recommend the B3.

Raspyness is just describing a sound, that's all. It's kind of a whining loud pitch noise. You shouldn't worry too much about it if you get the muffler that I suggested.

i recommend the monza catback exhaust (by pacesetter). i have heard it has a deep sound, almost that of a V6 engine, and actually gives you power gains.

When i got my Flow through there wasnt a gain that I could notice, but im sure it helps out ur exhaust system once it is complete in the long run.

Wow! Great article, that helps alot. Can anyone tell me the size of a 98' 2200 cavs exhaust? Magnaflow sounds like a good one, thanks for the info guys.

Apex-i N1... strait threw design, loud as hell, and deep idle pitch.

Stock exhaust run about 2" diameter. If you get an aftermarket muffler, the smallest you can really get is a 2 1/4" inlet diameter muffler (atleast from most companies including magnaflow). You can easily get a 2 1/4" inlet muffler welded on your stock piping so don't worry about it.
Your welcome for the info...

wow...didn't even know that. I know when I measured mine, it was about 2" diameter (probably less inside). What year car was that off?

I had no idea that it was so small!, no not me, the exhaust LOL. If i was going to replace the entire exhaust what size should i go with? I personaly like the raspy sound, i just don't like it so high pitched that it makes your brain itch. So if anybody has some ideas or tips on how to do that, please do tell. Thanks guys.

If you want to stay with the all motor route, go with 2 1/4".
If you want to go for boost (supercharger, turbo) go with 2 1/2"
If you went 2 1/2", it wouldn't hurt you but you would get better gains with 2 1/4".
