Yeah I'm sure they claim it. They make this "unique" muffler no one has seen before and claim higher numbers than most companies and people buy it cause they haven't heard anything different.

In all honesty, it's a muffler...your not gonna gain all that much power from a muffler whether your a highly modified car or just slightly modified. Yes, there are mufflers that flow better than others but it's nothing of a difference where "This one will give you 5 HP and this one will give you 10 HP".

A guy my buddy works with has one of these on his mr2. I laugh at him everytime because it sounds like crap and he swears that it gives him the proper backpressure he needs. Plus it just looks ghey.

it looks too stupid to add power

I thought it might have been for people that want to make sure their exhaust is quiet since it runs through twice. I don't see how it could possibly help your engine breathe better.

Whats next? Fans you stick in your exhaust?

So if I make a knot in my exhaust it will breath better???

Yea I pulled out my intake and bent it 90 degrees twice to allow better intake velocity like a tornado effect.

i'll bet that gives you P.I.M.P...

(positive intake manifold pressure)

If any one has seen the show " sports car revolution " on speed Tv, they made a bugdet race car/every day driver Kia wagon and thats the style muffler they used, they claimed low end torque and thats its quiet. They dyno'd it stock, then added a full exhaust ( header, cat, muffler) and dyno'd again. I think they got something like 8 horses from it all. The thing looks so big i dont know if it would fit under a jbody. lol I agree with Spotabee racing tho.

let's put it this way. my car is only dropped 2 inches. you can see a pic of the ass end in my profile. my catback scrapes all the time. i'll be driving and someone will inform me that when it's dark they will occasionally see sparks flying because my catback scrapes. however i never have any problems with the muffler itself.

well i just read a review on that "style" muffler un a magazine and first lets tell you about that car they had it one

it was a 92 honda civic hatch with a b18 swap and full exhaust intake and some other razzama tazzz on it lol

with a fart can it made like 189 hp and 150lbs of torque not bad but with that ghey looking muffler it made 190hp and 155lbs of torque my geuss would have to be back pressure it must give you best back pressure through the power band but i think i would deal with a fart can cause it just looks better

wow they gained 1 hp and 5 tq off a different muffler? i doubt the 5 ft / lbs tq gain. that's just not right.

I have that same OBX muffler on my Cavy. It was a tigh fit but it worked. It actually sounds really nice and smooth. Its also fairly quiet. I bought it to replace the muffler that came with my RK Sport catback system.

The magnaflow muffler? wow. What made you change the muffler on that cat back? did you not like the magnaflow muffler? now that you've got the OBX which do you like better?

Re: muffler on ebay

I didn't like the magnaflow muffler because the fact is it was a street series muffler which has a 2 inch o.d. tuner tube inside it, which I really don't see it doing anything other that hindering exhaust flow. I really don't see how the design of the twin-loop muffler could hinder exhaust flow, since it has a perforated core and the tubing stays at 2.5 in. through the bends, which are mandrel bends. I noticed a bit of a difference with the way my car pulls in the top end after I installed the OBX muffler, so I could say I am satisfied with the muffler. It also sounds really nice, even when its cold. Its really quiet when I'm just cruising, and has a really nice mid-rangy growl to it when I punch the gas. The Magnaflow muffler always sounded like poo when it was cold, wasn't quiet at all, and only sounded good when it was warmed up. Overall, I give it two thumbs up.

the main reason for sound difference is that sound is being absorbed in two passes with the muffler shown....

with the magnaflow muffler, its straight through....one pass.

not sure what you ordered but most magnaflows are 2.25 min inner diameter... they have some 2 inch, but not many.

the reason why a magnaflow may sound raspy cold is because metal expands. the perforated core center is no different. the holes expand a slight bit cause the metal does. with a single muffler a resonator is usually needed.

the dual pass muffler a resonator MIGHT not be needed on some cars, although you do lengthen the length of the exhaust which can produce torque higher.

I wasn't saying the muffler was a 2 inch in/out. It was a 2.25 inch in/out muffler, which was part of the Magnaflow cat-back system I bought. I also have a 31" Magnapack resonator. The Magnaflow street-series muffler, which came with the cat-back system, has a "tuner tube" welded to the inside of the muffler on the exit side. I was able to measure the inner diameter of the tube, and it was 1.875 inches.

thats the silencer, although thats supposed to be bolted in, not welded.... oh well someone at the factory messed up....

supposed to be removable for street and track use... had the same series muffler when i first started out.
