My port Job
Sunday, May 22, 2005 2:58 PM
Currently in the stages of finishing my porting job for my 2.2 OHV. My only question is, what FPR can i use. I have done a couple of searchs and every one talks about how they are having a hard time puting this aftermarket ones on and how they have to make different adjustments to make them work. Can any one show me some pics or give me advice on which one really does work. Preferably looking for something red with gauge. If you look below the old one looks hideous with the new paint job.

Personally, I wouldn't use an FPR. I would defenitley recommend an SAFC-2. I have it and it will work with all J-bodies. For instructions on installation you should either search or make a post on how they install.

With an SAFC-2 you can control where you need fuel or where you don't need fuel on what RPM range.

Here is a picture of what it looks like:

Also, looks cool when it lights up...

You might want to invest in an Air/Fuel ratio gauge or a Wide-band

Good luck with your decision...

actually a adjustable fpr is a needed item , cause you can get a stable base fuel pressure

not all the stock fprs had the same base pressure

Possibly for his car his base pressure isn't as high as mine. What I found was that the more I did, the more fuel my computer was dumping into my motor so I ended turning the fuel DOWN instead of up. I'm not sure with the OHV but I know for the ECOs, their computers tend to run rich (I know more than myself with heavily modded ECOs) when not under boost.
