I have a 97 2.2L Sunfire.. I just got in today my Pacesetter header and my Magnaflow high flow cat. I already had a cat back on. As of right now the flange for the stock cat is cut off and the cat back is welded strait to that. Now the header is 2.25" piping to the flange to the cat. My question is what should I do. Should I cut that off and just weld it to the cat, or should I leave it on and weld it?? I dont know if you guys will under stand what I'm talking about. I got to go to work now, I'll post pictures tonight..
Sorry to jack the thread but I see your car all the time when Im on Freedom on my way to boces, and Ive always wondered if you were an .org member. sorry about jacking thread just wanted to say whats up.
keep welding things together and you will have to keep cutting it off to replace anything. i don't see the need to eliminate any of the flanges.

Thanks Spotabee Racing.. Apparently you got my point. I just read my post and realized it didn't make any sense. I just wanted to know if I should cut the flange off of the end of the header...

no i wouldn't. bolts, clamps, anything but welding your entire exhaust together.

I wish there were org members around here. My town is strictly Honda. One Cavalier but he is kinda weird lol with a 3 foot tall metal wing. Oh and i agree with Spotabee.
2.2 OHV 2.4l coming soon
2.25 inch custom exhaust
WAI
RK Underdrive pulley
50 shot of NX
pacesetter header
...if you dont forsee changing your exhaust system, there really isn't anything too bad about welding everything together. heheheh, kinda funny, i usually agree with spotabee, but this time, gotta throw in my 2 cents: I am from the raleigh, nc area, and the roads here are pretty nasty; dips, potholes, etc. i have had several systems scrape, and once my whole catback pipe fell off from scraping at the clamp. I have had mine welded since, and no problems, the whole system from header back would have to fall off.
if you dont plan on changing your system, maybe welding everything isnt too bad. just my opinion....

i just see it as an open door in the event you want to change something around... it would make it so much easier for you down the road.

....yep, Spotabee...my exhaust looks like frankenstein's monster, probably more welds than you've EVAH seen. I'd like to replace the whole damn thing yet again, lol...
