i want to install my header today, but i have to get a NY state inspection this month, and i was wondering if this will cause emissions problems, because NY state is crazy strict about emissions. any help is appreciated.

i passed DC emissions with both, and my exhaust comming out the bumper. DC is prob one of the most strict places i know of outside of cali.

Ive had the rk sport 4-1 header and a magnaflow hi flow cat on for about a year and i just passed ny state inspection last month. For a while when i first got it on though the cel kept mysteriously turning on and off. You might wanna be careful and wait to pass to install it because in NYS you cant pass with the cel on now.
if they raise any concerns, you might try and get documentation from the companies of C.A.R.B. exemption numbers. I believe most if not all of those companies produce CARB exempt products.

most places that do obd2 testing will not let you pass with a CEL
what were the codes you were throwing? p420?
you shouldnt have any problems passing. for the NYS inspection, the only thing they check for emissions is that you dont have the CEL on and that there is a full exhaust system including a cat and some kind of muffler. they dont anal probe your exhaust tip.

I didnt know what the code was because i never got it checked out. It just kept showing up occasionally and then going away. The problem just kinda fixed itself somehow (idk)I guess because its been gone for about 3 months now which was in time for me to get my inspection last month.
Same for PA as far as I know, Spilner! Asked Meineke about it since I'm considering doing the exhaust on my car eventually and they said as long as I'm not throwing the check engine light and the exhaust has all necessary parts it will pass inspection.
