I just got the bomz cai from ebay and they gave me 2 tubes and the rest of the kit. Were there more than 2 or not. 2001 2.2 cav

The one i got from Ebay , never fit , it was missing spacers and peices.

It did make a nice short ram though ...

I recently bough an e-bay intake, i wasn't a bomz, only has 1 air tube and a spot for the air sensor.........fit perfect and its pretty damn loud too

this is HONESTLY why you guys should read the FAQ at the top of the forum before you do anything with your cars...

bomz doesnt sell long ram intakes.... never have. a little extra pipe they give, but not really anything significant.

all of em are short ram intakes.

solid proof, whenever someone mentions "cold air" people blindly migrate to it without doing research. i;ve done it before when i began.... no biggie, most do. but learn from the mistake.

heres a few points to note guys.... especially in bold.

Quote:

there are short rams that way out perform long rams. some intake companies dont even make long rams cause of this reason. no need to.

for starters...."cold air" (great gimmick catch word used in marketing) but lets be realistic in the summer time its 90+ degrees out in most places. where do you get COLD air from? besides a cryo2 kit attached or a fridge on the filter.

then, ever notice when its hot in the summer time and roads usually give off heat? that heat is the closest to the filter on an alleged "COLD AIR" intake.... so you are sucking in road heat which can get up to 144+ degrees.

not to mention every bend extra you add in an intake slows air flow down and makes a restriction as its a longer distance to travel.

air circulates up under the hood during movement, so the same air you get from a long ram, you get on a short ram.

intakes ARE pretty much the same. its a pipe with a filter. every company has a gimmick or some BS claiming they are the BEST. HOW ELSE ARE THEY GONNA GET YOU TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THEM???? look in any car magazine. but then look at reality. with all the ads you read "we have the best performance, etc etc etc" you dont really see races comming down to just an intake. in fact, thats prob the least of the parts making a difference.

as it stands the fastest cars on this site, in the 13's and below and such....alot of them were custom made intakes.

dyno sheets are good for bragging rights, individual tests and improvement on the same car, but then again cars dyno different on different dynos and no two cars even if similar are exactly the same. some companies have dynoed their product on one car, and produced maybe 2-3hp, they then search for another car that will give em more around 5-7.

vibrant is just as good as pretty much any other intake. i currently made my 11th intake out of vibrant DIY parts. works just as good as any other of the major brands i;ve tried. the way i see it, anyone trying to sell an intake will tell you "ours is the best"...who would wanna buy, just an ok intake?

personally vibrant is cool, i use their 2.75 pipe. its aluminum which doesnt retain heat as much as steel, hence the reason heatsinks are usually aluminum. able to dissappate heat quickly.

g'luck on choice.

hope that helps some of yall to some degree

hmmmm nice point there, but I'll keep my CAI :p

Re: Bomz cai question

doesnt matter to me. neither is bad, the really both do the same... both have pros...

short ram:
-such as less restriction from less bends and extremely sharp bends
-quicker throttle response
-less distance to travel

long ram:
-outside the engine bay
-may appear more technical

and they have cons which there are relatively easy fixes.

just do realize unless its winter time, nothing is "cold". unless you plan to reroute your A/C to blow on your filter

Ebay intakes are not all crap I`m sure some are but there are many that fit and perform perfectly the same as expensive brand name ones.

I have a bomz intake from ebay. Mind you it WILL fit with some mods. You wont end up using one length of pipe and alot of spacers. The O2 sensor is really hard to get in also. It will fit but its not to easy. Be advised.

um... o2 sensor = header
IAT (intake air temp) sensor = intake pipe

doesn't fit right, right out of the box = damn near every aftermarket part for j's
you're point is?

had an e-bay, picked up a weapon R used, hated the box on the valve cover and wanted something to connect directly to the TB

i do hope you all are putting the IAT sensor INSIDE the pipe and not in some tube where air flow doesnt reach it.
