Hows it going, i have an 04 cav right now and so far it has, intake, header, catback, exhaust, highflow cat, upper and lower motor mounts, the rk sport spark plug springs, bosch platnium 2s, 62mm throttle body, lightwight crank pulley and a b&m shiftplus. Im just getting the car finished body wise, and was wondering what the next step would be for engine work, i was lookin at a turbo but i wanted to get the most out of the engine before i went turbo, i was wondering what everyone else thought about it, i was looking at getting some ignition mods, i was lookin at the msd stuff and i dont know much about it but i was wondering if someone could tell me a little about the msd ignition stuff, like what the differences are in the msn sci, the dis-2 and the digitial 7 plus and which of them woudl work with the ecotecs and help the best. or even if it wouldnt be worth doing something like that right now. Any input is appricated, thanks.
oh and i also forgot i have h&r lowering springs and vibrant strut bars so im doing ok in the suspension area, im pretty much just lookin at engine right now
i've done alot of research into ignitions systems for J's... as far as i know, the only practical system for an ecotec is the dis-2 (although very few people have installed it due to confusing wiring, i plan on installing mine this weekend). for race-only applications you can also get a distributor-based system which requires the removal of your power steering (which is stupid in most cases).
yeah, mine wont be a race only app. so would the dis-2 be the best thing to do next before starting my turbo setup or is there anything else im lettint out
i was also lookin at those hypervoltage system and the hypergroud system that gravana sells, i was thinkin that with the big 3 upgrade. anyone have any opinions on how that would work.
i dont know much about the hypervoltage system, but the hyperground system will result in faster startups and MAYBE some horsepower gains. Based on what I've heard, it's pretty insignificant gains unless you have a car that's like... 500hp. If I were you, I'd save the money towards something else.
