beware of pulg wires from nopi

Some may call me stupid but I didn't know. I bought after market plug wires from nopi. To be exact they were accell plug wires for my sunfire. Well I put them in and I fried coil pack 1 and 4 so beware of the plug wires you get and don't be stupid like me it is very expensive to replace about 800 dollars with the new egnition switch that i had to get with it

Couple things don't add up...

Wires are wires. "High performance" wires are low resistance and high conductance...

You have 2 coils, not 4...

Unless you wired two coils together, spark plug wires can't burn out coils...

Coils won't burn out an ignition switch... one has very little to do with the other, and they are on completely different circuits. Actually, there are 3 circuits there. Coil 1 (A) is on circuit 1747 and 1748, Coil 2 (B) is on 1749 and 444. The ignition switch is on circuit 439, and even on a different connector (connector 2).

And... if you paid $800 for two coils and an ignition switch, you got ripped off...

Something else caused the problems you have, ignition wires could not possibly do that.

yeah something in your statement is VERY off

you had to have some kind of other problems before you changed the wires

or you did something wrong when you changed the wires

and the OHV's dont require rocket science to change

the 2.4 have pretty much the same coil in a different configuration and we do have plug wires , we have small springs , and are alot lower resistance than the after market wires you have on the ohv's and we have no problems

the OHV coils are VERY easy to change 10min tops.... maybe five if my cai wasnt in the way...

agreed with everyone else...

unless you have an msd ignition like me, i really dont see what error you can really do besides a fault of your own...

coil pack 35$ a piece
icm from junkyard 15$ brand new a bit over 100$
ignition switch 49$ http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=C001&UserAction=performSearch&Parameters=Auto+Store%7C%7EREGULAR+PARTS+LOOK+UP%7C%7EIGNITION+SWITCH

i;ve been guilty of it in the past, but .....did you check the fuses?

tarriq got owned but judging from the amount of gold in your teeth in pic in your profile just sell a couple and you can pay for the repair no prob, and still have a few left over to be bling'in it up

yeah you might have did something wrong. I had V-8 8.5 mm wires on my Sunfire when I had it. No probs. Get this! I had my Grandma help me put them in! I had her mark the wires with markers while I was under the car.

so what kind of gains are 8.5 MM wires getting you over Accel 8mm wires?

also in response to the topic of this thread, naming that you bought the part from NOPI can have negative effect for NOPI when NOPI has no responsibility for the quality of the Accel part. Blame Accel plugs, not NOPI.
