2.3/2.4 hybrid compression help
Sunday, May 15, 2005 9:17 PM
im gonna start building my motor soon, ive got an 086 head im using on my 2.4 block. nw i know the comp jumps through the roof so i need to know what i need to do to get 9:1 compression out of it, i plan on cc'ing the combustion chamber but im trying to figure out ballpark what compression pistons ill need to run to get it down to about 9:1
this is gonna be a motor built for boost so big compression wont be needed, thanks.
andyes i did a quick search throgh the foru and couldnt find anyhitng overly useful

the compression with the 086 would be 11.4:1

the 086 head c.c. is 48cc

what bore do you have?

Stock or + 0.010 bore with 086 head - 19.6cc dish

If you go with a 0.030 or 0.040 over bore, the compression go to 9.1 so a 20cc dish would do the job.

You could just change the deck height and run flat piston. If you order a set of piston and ask them to move the wrist pin 0.120 higher, you'll create a deck height of .120 and lower the compression to 9.03:1 with stock bore and flat top piston. even if you go with a .040 overbore, you'll get 9.1:1 compression witch is still good.
