well....the flange off of my exaust mani was leaking really bad, so i put it on the lift to check it out, it was shot, so...i went to a local exhaust shop, where my dad has all of his exhaust work done, and shot around with a few options. i plan on doing a full exhaust system sometime in the future, so i just wanted a cheap fix, which, i ordered just the flex joint(flange) for 81$ or something liek that, and then the guy from magnaflow...cuz that is who me and the exhaust guy called, and i had him ask about the high flow cat.....and the guy from magnaflow said that on our cars with the ODBII computer, all of the cats are already high flow cats...so he said it is a waste of money, i thought it was a line of b/s...but...he is from magnaflow...he should know waht is going on right? i was also wondering.....can u get 2.25 inch pipe welded right off of the new flange that is on its way...and run taht into the stock converter for now, until i get some more money to finish off the rest?

while he is right, your stock already is high flow....
if you use your stock cat which is about 2 inches, and the rest of your exhaust is 2.25 or 2.5..... then your stock cat is gonna be the most restrictive piece.
the stock is high flow.....for that pipe size.....
you can technically do anything you want, but remember, its called "stock" for a reason
and dont know where you are, maybe canada (judging from the higher prices) but a flex joint at most should be no more than 30$ , even half that from ebay like 14$
what about widing the stock cat to accomodate 2.5" exhaust? Or is just better to get a 2.5 cat already?
sometimes it is, cause the stock pipe is like 2 inches, outer....1 and 7/8ths inner.
they can expand metal, with the pipe expander, but if you have a flange, you might need a new flange as those are harder to expand without cracking or distorting the bolt pattern.
if you dont have a flange, widening an older rusted inlet pipe, you do take the chance of splitting it or deffinately weakening it.
if you were going a small distance like just under 2 inch inner diam, to like 2.25.... less of a jump, but 2.5 can be done, but it would totally be up to the condition of the metal.
also if they do, do that, make sure they not only get the inlet and outlet pipes to the cat, but the actual opening as well. they will def have to take care not to crack open the shell of the cat no doubt.
