You hear alot of different things about header wrap. We have used it on a modified circle track car for years and have never had any problems. The wrap will make a big difference in the amount of heat disspated into the engine bay, the exhaust will stay hotter further into the system, but probably not enough to damage your O2 sensors downstream. I would do it, just wrap it tight and be consistent to prevent moisture from getting in between the wrap and the tubing. Good luck!

i was thinking a while back of wrapping my psetter. eric laid it out, so i got the therm changed once again with an ac delco, not a stant or kem. worked good, so i sold my header wrap since it is ceramic coated.
from what i have read and seen from forums of all types, from domestic, imports, muscle cars.
On headers:
mild steel uncoated.... like said fatigues the metal, also doesnt allow natrual expansion, and retains moisture if the wrap isnt coated with hi temp coating afterwards. can be bad in no time
mild steel ceramic. same thing with fatigue and expansion, but with the coating, slows down the degrading from moisture retention. basically think about a hot moist heat wrap
Stainless steel, same thing can occur, but at a slower rate since stainless is stronger, and more moisture/corrosion resistant. 304 is good, 316 offers more corrosion resistance.
stainless steel coated, prob the most desirable to wrap if you are gonna wrap one. but same thing apply.
on manifolds stock. good for keeping temps down, but can be awkwards to wrap with some manifold designs. coat manifold in hi temp sealing spray, wrap, then coat the wrap.
some are getting 4-5 years out of wrapping headers as opposed to the others getting 6-7 or 8 years out of the header. for some the temps lower are enough a compromise, however, underhood temps rise mainly at a standstill. air does flow under the hood when moving, so its not much a factor.
if need be i can post all the sites i have saved on it.
