I am going to take my TB up to the shop and get it bored out to 62mm. My question is, is there any special request I should make? I read in a thread awhile back about getting it off center because of some hole. I couldn't find that thread when I did a search. Also should the shop put a new butterfly in when they bore out the TB or do I have to do it? Thanks
might help to post what TB.
if its a 2200, you might end up sleeving it.
ecotec can prob do it easier.
if its an ecotec TB yes have it bored 1mm off center away from the IAC and get the plate cut first and then have the TB bored to fit the plate
04 sunfire auto, mid 15's n/a, and still going
I'm sorry it's a 2.2 The TB is one whole piece that screws down to the Intake Manifold. I can get pictures tommorow if need be. I just wasn't sure if they replaced the butterfly with a new one to fit the new bored opening.
yes they have to make a new butterfly.
the most you can bore it out on the stock centerline is 57mm (supposely) w.o problems.
62mm probably is going to be to big unless your going to be boosted. also to get the tb bored to 62mm its going have to be sleeved.
old school 2.2 as in 95-97.
yea machine shop can do it, but its prob gonna cost some extra work. with making a sleeve for it.
also dont know your plans, but if you dont have much to or on or in the engine, bigger isnt always better.
Our stock is 54mm correct? I just may not get it done right now. Yes it is old school. A 96 but for $1500 with just over 70,000 miles and some mild mods I can't complain.
Go with 59mm and you will be fine. 62mm is way to big. People are having probs with 59mm because the shops they take them to doesnt offset itand they get holes in them. It must be offset 1mm to accomdate 59mm. Currently doing it myself for 2 throttle bodies and porting 2 intake runners. I will have a full set ready at the end of the month so if you want one shoot an email.
