In was inevitable that I would break something...

The plan was to do the 2.3 HO intake manifold swap and install my turbo... In three days. So I could have it all done for the car show my car club hosts every years.

It's only after I've done all this do I realize how bad of an idea that really was.

It's not to say that I didn't pull it off it a sense. I worked essentially 9 AM to midnight all three days. Put on the manifold, used my stock TB, bought all the extentions for the hoses. Installed the exhaust manifold, bolted the turbo, bought the fittings for the oil feed, tapped the oil pan for the return, built a custom downpipe, welded on the old O2 sensor, made the tubing from the turbo to the TB, mounted the intercooler (ran out of time to run the pluming to it), chopped up the bumper to make it fit. Moved the battery to the trunk, relocated the coolant overflow tank where the battery is...

Needless to say, it didn't make it to the show. I was two hours late already this morning when we finally had everything ghetto rigged enough to be able to start it.

And... it doesn't start. Kinda seems like a dead battery at first. But, plug on jumper cables, and still nothing. We tried to push start it... it starts, runs for half a second, then violently shuts off. We checked everything we could, fully opened the wastegate, made sure the intake manifold had air (we thought maybe my custom throttle bracket wasn't working)... The only things that aren't plugged back in are the sensor on the stock intake (I assume is a MAF sensor) and the O2 sensor that goes on the exhaust manifold. But I imagine those would just throw codes, not prevent my engine from starting.

So, I am again at a loss. I fear I may have finally overstepped my boundries, and I might resort to getting a mechanic to handle this one. I'm getting a friend's mechanic to take a look and give advice tomorrow, and depending on how that goes, I may have encountered the first project I haven't been able to finish in my short 6 month career of making my engine not work right.

What types of computer modifictions have you made? You cant just "Throw on a Turbo" and expect everything to fire right up.... lots of careful planning go into these things.... Plug in those sensors... as for it not starting.... I dunno

You're car won't run without a map sensor signal, it will do exactly what you are describing.

Tried putting the sensor off the intake (still not sure what it is exactly) into one of the charge pipes, no luck. The MAP sensor is the one that just needs a vacuum port, right? If it is... I plugged it into the middle port in the HO manifold. I might try plugging it in directly to the TB, to see if that helps.

I ran my HO manifold with my MAP sensor running in the middle nipple on the log part of the manifold...and yes, the MAP sensor needs vacuum
