Well, came back from an exam today and this was sitting in my room...
Since I already had an intake before it took me 5 minutes to install this one, incredible work done by the people at K&N. Fits extremely well, everything lines up and the hoses fit to perfection
As for performance its awesome. I can notice the gains immediately, RPM needle flies up. I know some of you like the sound, its pretty noticeable also. But for me, the best is simply that it is K&N. I know most of you here on the .org do your own work, and thats great. But having that name brand gives me peace of mind and the fitment just adds towards the stability of the intake.
As for my old intake...its up for grabs. I'm willing to sell it cheap so email me if you are interested. It will fit a 2.4 and you can bend the support bracket back up or if you have an ecotec it will also fit, just have to either weld another support or bend it down like I did and secure it with something else.

good find ! where can you buy this ?
You can find it all over the place. RKSport, Cardomain both sell it. However, the best deal that I found was from
Autoanything
Not only was S&H free and quick, they have this one year policy, where if you see the product for any cheaper within that period, they will refund your money lost. Safest deal if you ask me.

so you noticed a difference betweent he k&n and the ebay style one you had on???
You have to admit...they are both pipe....pretty much the same length... and both have a cone filter. Unless the ebay filter wasnt a k&n filter on the end of it?
Care to post a video...or sound clip? I am thinking of buying the k&n intake
The other intake does not have a K&N filter. I know what your talking about, trust me, I did all the research you've done before buying an intake and after listening to everybody on the .org I figured why pay more for the same thing. Well, after having the other intake installed I was pretty happy with it and all, but the fitment wasnt perfect, as I posted before the support bracket could not reach properly to attach onto the EVAP canister purge solenoid. I had it zip-tied, which is what other people have done, but I was constantly looking for someone to do aluminum welding for me. I noticed some gains, not anything spectacular, but worth the money.
However, after having it on for a couple months, everytime I ran over a bump I was worried about the support. Aluminum welding is supposed to be quite complicated and not many people can do it well. So I just went ahead and saved $200 for a K&N intake that had just come out recently. I knew K&N had a great reputation, the warranty behind the filter gives me peace of mind.
As for performance between the two, I do notice a little more from the K&N. I'm not sure why, perhaps the filter because I can't see the piping making a difference. As far as a video goes, I will try to make one as soon as I'm done with exams, kinda swamped right now.
If you do buy an intake, I would recommend getting the K&N for all of the reasons I specified above, the fitment is spectacular and you won't be dissapointed.
