hmmm, seems that no one has any info, I have amassed a bunch of info and stuff, my main questions is going to be getting the RL PCM to interface with my BCM or the stock PCM to drive the S/C(seems the first one is easier sounding....)

anyone out there, lol

where is John Heinracy's email when you need it!

You might want to check out the ecotec site just like our org. I know that they have some different takes on stuff over there cos its specified to just that engine. Not sure of the site but if you search ecotec on google itll come up. If you find anything a cross thread over here would be much appreciated.

why not just put a supercharger on your 2.2 eco you have now. probally be cheaper and probaly get more power too

I was going to buy a complete engine on e-bay but i did not have enough info to procede. Do the Saturuns have a power steering pump? then you have to change the throttle body, then engine management--the saturn pcm is diff than cavalier--it uses CAN protocall I am not sure it matters. But as you can see there is some homework to do and because there are not very many around You need someone in GM part And service to help. I was going to run it with an SDS EIC for now--its the timing i was worried about.

You cant run it with a stock PCM, you need to use a redline PCM, The throttle body you should still be able to use yours but you may need to convert to the non wired, nobody in GM parts and service can help you as they dont even know the engine exists trust me I've asked this same question. They didnt even know there was such a thing as a supercharged eco. The site you speak of which is ecotecpower.com has very few posts and not much knowledge you will find more on here. Id say get the engine, redline PCM, throttle body system and take it to someone knowledgeable with GM swaps which most places arent

i have been reading some info on this and talked to serveral ppl. it sounds alot like if you take the intake manifold and s/c off of the 2.0 and it should built right up the 2.2 and then you will need to upgrade the fuel injectors. also the pcm might work from the 2.0 but i am still unsure about that. well i am building my 2.2eco for the s/c swap and we will see what i can do. i am going to the dealership hopefully this week for the part numbers for the intake manifold and s/c off of the 2.0 and see if this can work.

As he stated per a GM contact the 2.0 supercharger is the same supercharged that will be used on the 2.2 supercharger kit, and will bolt up will just a little modifing.

I will be doing to the swap by the end of this year. It is involved.
The only reason why i would rather do the whole motor instead of just the charger is becuase of a couple of reasons:

2.2l
you have to change the crank shaft, reprogram the ECU
Upgrade the fuel injectors, and fuel rail.
change the air intake

2.0l
ready to go.
plus the new motors are build better than the older ones.
bolts right up, just need to flash the ecu.
change the air intake.

I already got a price on the 2.0SC motor, $3,700
not really a bad price considering it is brand new.
once i buy the motor i am going to go with a lighter flywheel, and crank pully. then i will run full exhuast. i am estimating about 250HP. just the stock motor alone puts out 205HP.

Like i said, i am either going to do this and the end of this year or at the end of next year, i will be using my christmas bonus!
I will keep everyone posted once i start the project!

I was going to do the same thing^ but instead I just ended up getting a used 2.2 ecotec for $850 and installed for $450. The only hard part is the ecu other than that it's just nuts and bolts.

Good Luck Megaman!!! I hope everything goes smooth for ya!

Well I am doing it now....I have the 2.0S/C and the harness and everything out of the Ion RL minus the trans(using the getrag) my quandary is about the PCM and wiring issues...I know a standalone is a good possibility but I want to keep it as oem looking and acting as possible....hense the looking for the info, the swap is straightforward but I want pcm issues to be ironed out, I wish it were possible to load a ion rl program to the stock pcm....

why don't you just flash the ECM that you have now? I belive that would be the easiest fix.

bingo...get a spare PCM, and try it out, not sure how hard it would be, but jeebus it's worth a shot... Let us know, I'd like to know more about it myself

One more thing.... what about the throttle body? The new one that fits the SC motor is electronically controlled, which means that there is not a cable that goes to it anymore.

I am having an adaptor plate fabbed to rotate and allow the use of the stock TB and cable…I think I have found the solution, but I may not have it done for a little bit but am working on it, once the engine is in the car complete I will post pix..

This ought to be interesting to see. I almost bought a redline, was really close. Instead I went with just the quad coupe and I am going to install a factory turbo kit in the future. Im more of a turbo kind of guy, that is unless some redline parts happen to fall my way. We have a lot of idiot drivers here in MN. One drove his redline straight off the road and into a cemetary where he totalled it.
