I have 2 main concerns with my choice for power in my future... Supercharged (RSM) or Swapped but I have little experience or hands-on knowledge about either of them!! Someone, please help me.
Currently, I have the 2.2L ECOtec, yippidey do dah, SLOW!! Okay, what does this little RSM Supercharger Kit do for me for just under $6,000!!!? Will it blow my engine up?? (My friend just got a Jackson Racing Supercharger put into his B16 and blew his @!#$ up. I know, I know, different platform, Japanese vs. American - Roots Type vs. Turbine... blah, blah, blah... I just wanna know if I should be concerned and if there is anyother mods I should take into consideration if I do go with the supercharger).
Swapping... The crazy questions. I have researched and researched again, so please don't think I am being lazy, okay. I want the LSJ (ION Redline, Cobalt SS). This is the motor I am currently interrested in and for 2 reasons. 1: Originality's sake, I am yet to have seen either swapped. 2: Future aftermarket. The LSJ motor sounds less crazy than swapping internals, looks like it just bolts in (minor fabrication) and whoomp there it is. Anyone know anything that might point me in the right direction and where it might cost me less money and not try my patience in the LONG run?
Pontiac Sunfire Redline... I like the sound of that... Thanks you guys, sorry if I sound stupid but I have been up for a while and am in great need of sleep.

honestly, i;d start some research in the BOOST FORUM. for two reasons.
the majority of this forum is "which intake is the best" in posts. you;ll get a ton more boost specific info there.
2nd reason is, you can see what people are running from some of the posts as well as check out the FAQ.
one solid thing i do know, is that adding boost wont blow your engine. its either parts that fail prematurely or people who dont tune their engines correctly, that blow engines.
g'luck
i'd think that going with the hahn charger would be cheaper than a vortech, and definatly make more power than a 2 liter with a roots.
CAR GODS MADE THE 1.6 SOHC TO MAKE US 2.2 OHV GUYS FEEL BETTER.
3500 US for an RSM charger kit for your car. Complete.
The eco loves boost.
If I was you I would one do the turbo set up on your ecotec. I have seen a stock motor 5 speed ecotec run 113mph in the 1/4, which is good for easy 12's.
You would be cheaper than buying the parts needed for the 2.0 supercharged motor (I do like the idea of that swap). And better performance than the RSM kit.
