I have a race 4 $200 against a 2.4 cavi 5-speed w/ intake, exhaust, headers, flywheel, and clutch and he challenged me to a race during braggin rights for "TEAM TORUE"
I have a 98' 2.2 w/ an automatic tranny
mods: AEM cai, pace setter headers, full dual rksport catback, cam, apex, msd coil pak
Just wanted to know your thoughts on the outcome of the race?
Will I be victorious? What mods do I need to install next?
Orangeburg huh... I live in Augusta... I hope you arent talking about bragging rights in Jackson SC because that happened last weekend...
I have been to 5 points many times too... in columbia if that is where you are talking about. Its the best place to drink because there are about 40 clubs.
ohhh by the way.... you will most likely lose. Cant say for sure though, get out and throw the money down at a track, and race to find out.
96 All motor 5 Speed Z24, Best time 15.97@86MPH
Hmmm, the numbers don't look to be in your favor on this one. The biggest disadvantage you're facing is the 5-speed vs the automagic. But I'll be interested to hear how it turns out.
5 speed has no advantage over an auto if the person in the auto knows how to drive it
ok heres my imput and remeber it's just an opion. first off the 2.2's are no match for a 2.4 just plain numbers also a 5 speed has better track times by comparison. for example the avergae 5 speed eco runs mid 15's while my auto runs a high 15 low 16's also as for being able to drive an auto better, besdeis the good launch theres not much to racing an auto down a stragiht line. the only thing I can say is hope he misses a shift. and remeber I am not trying to bash I just trying to help

a 2.4 with a clutch and flywheel alone could prolly take the 2.2 with your mods. but you cant say untill it happens. 2.4 just out perform 2.2 in everything so idn go for it and see what happens. my opinion is the 2.4 will spank you. but then agian flywheels make launches harder so you better hope he cant launch then you could prolly take him..but thats my opinion..good luck..tell us what happens
karolinakidd06, what kind of cam or you talking about, is it an agressive race cam or just a mild step above stock, This would make all the difference in this race!

Egad... not much short of nitrous that could help a 2.2L with an auto tranny beat even a stock 2.4L... hate to say it..
If your 2.2 was built up way more than that.. maybe... but not likely unless your friend hasn't got a clue how to drive.

Yeah last 2.2L auto I raced against at the track...before my head, cams, header, high flow cat, re-geared tranny, got spanked. I had a 15.6, and he had a 17.3....ouch...he was humbled. Never challenged a Z again all night.
All I had was a 2" cat-back, home-made intake, engine mounts, AEM power pulley on the alternator, and no spare tire in the car. Everything else was stock...well except for the strobes in the headlights that I had on during my run (that gave me 40HP).
You are no match for the 2.4L

I know I was in Jackson, but this is a it's just a lil something that we're doin in the burg
Well he claims to have no traction control and a blown head gasket and he did'nt wanna drive it but I told him that the only way i was gonna put up money is if he drove
I was thinkin about buying a cobalt and calling it quits on my 2.2, but they are too small, however I still have my beast a 2003 monte carlo ss, he wont race me in that
Thanx for the info
