welding my exhaust

i have the rksport duals, and those clamps just dont look very good in the long run. im also thinking about putting in a resonator to make the tone a bit less raspy and get rid of some of that crappy popping. I have a mig welding setup in my shop, so would you guys recommend I weld this bad boy together? im not very skilled getting the bead going, but i guess im ok with it....

As long as the welds don't leak it doesn't have to be pretty, or incredibly strong, I say go for it.

Yah go for it. Just set the machine right. You will know it is good when it sounds like cooking bacon. Nice even buzz when you weld. Just let it start to puddle in one spot and once that happens move from there. You should be good just to get it done if you do like I said.

If you dont want to use there clamps, whicj i didnt either, and you really dont want to weld then just go and get your self some good band clamps, they worked great for me, sealed the pipe and no leaks for 2 years. Just to give you another option.

No offense, just the standard warning for the idiots:

Take it off the car to weld it. Since you have a dual, at least one of those welds is directly under the gas tank.

none taken... ill have to figure something out as to that bit, ill weld that part out of the car then weldthe rest in (once the whole system is together, you cant removre it because of over-axle piping.)

Keep in mind, if you have to work on the car at a latter date, leave a couple of points where the exhaust can be taken apart if nedded and then weld the rest. I learned this the hard way, when I had to cut the pipe to get some parts out! The first point is where your header/stock manifold bolts to the head pipe, so you already have that point to separate if neede. You would probably be okay to weld everything from the head pipe to just before the over axle pipe, so you could just drop the whole center section if needed. As far as the rear section, you probably will never need to take that apart, unless you change anything in the rear section of the exhaust, so that could all be welded also. That would leave just one clamp, which I would recomend one of the band type clamps.
