How do you like your headers?

I just want to know your remarks, about your headers. I want to know what headers you have (model #'s if you have them), any problems on your install, performance gains (if any), and any pictures. I also want to know how you like them. This isn't motor specific.

i just recently installed the pacesetter ceramic coated header on my 97 2.2. the install was easy, it was just a pain to remove the old rusted manifold and downpipe. i'm very happy with the top end gain i got. prior to installing this header, i had no top end power. i have a 3 speed auto and it would take forever to go from 60 to 80, but now with this header and the magnaflow cat that i installed, my car pulls really hard from 60 to 80. it actually feels like my car has some power. i would definitely recommend it.

Where did you guys buy your from??? I was a little skeptical about pacesetter. I know they made some of their headers with the O2 sensor in the #4 cylinder tube rather then in the collector. Do they still sell that model or are they all fixed?

i got mine from the GP that turbotechracing is running. i think that GP is still going. it was a really good deal. the o2 sensor is in the collector on mine. here's a pic. the 02 sensor hole is in the pipe near the bottom right corner of the picture

Had the same experience, love the gain in that 60-80 mph range.

My only comment, and maybe i'm alone on this one, but mine a foot after the collector, has very bad rusting. if you look at my most recent pic in my engien install progress post,
here

in the lower right, of the old engine pic, you'll see the header, the primaries look great, but it gets progressively worse as it goes. Maybe thats because it was welded there, and at the cat. would welding make it rust like that, from messing up the ceramic coating?....
dunno, but thats my only complaint. I'll be getting a turbo sized (3") exhaust coming soon anyways, so i dun really care.

I bought a used Bill's i-Performance 4-2-1 header/high flow cat combo from Jason McElvy... works great for me except I managed to lose three of the bolts on my way to the bash last year.. I guess I didn't have them tight enough

not sure where you heard that from cause that is wrong info

rk sport on their 2.4 header put the o2 in the #4 tube

the old 4-2-1 design , had the o2 in the upper y-section and only read 2 cylinders , and people still want it

i even have a brand new 1 at home that is for sale , it is painted but can be coated also

the 2.2 header is a long tube design , with the 02 sensor just after the collector and does all 4 cylinders , and is the only CARB approved header for the 2.2's

as is the rest of the j-body headers , no one else sells 1 that is a approved header

I have the OBX 4-2-1 stainless steel and I absolutely love it. There were no problems on the install other than the ones I created (such as accidentally breaking the cat flange so I'm running a test pipe right now)

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

OBX SS 4-1 on my 2200, hate it, horribly. This thing caused more problems than it is worth. I spent more money fixing the problems it caused than the header itself cost. I had to buy a new o2, extension kit, like 50 bucks to get it to stop leaking on the ball joint, and it is still leaking btw. Honestly, it isnt worth it to me.

Pacesetter on my eco. Didn't install it. I'm illiterate with that. Nice gains and I definitely feel a lot more power, especially after 3000, it just keeps pulling and wants more.

I have the Pacesetter 4-1 ceramic coated header. The install was easy. The hardest part was removing all the stock junk. I definitely noticed a gain after installing. Overall its a good product for the price.

I have the OBX 4-2-1 on my 99 2200 and it made a huge differance in the upper range, i mena this things wil pull like a freight train in 3rd, and really the install was pretty straight forward, and its been on for about a year now and i starting to have trouble with the ball flange where the downpipe bolts the the header tiself, the bolts keep coming loose and rattlling agians my subfrace brace. So as soon as i can im going to get back under there and tighten up the bolts all the way and drill them for safty wire, that way they wont come loose anymore.

But overall for the money i spent 190 shipped off ebay im very happy, and it still looks nice and shiney after a year on the car.

And also mine has the O2 mounted in the upper y section and i havent had any problems, not sure you would see any gains or loses by having the sensor in the collector, i was going to move mine, but after i started building the turbo engine i said the hell with it.

HAHAHAHA.

i have the 4-1 header from www.the-race-shop.com and its kickass.

its the first one made for a 2.3HO motor, and mine is a 1 7/8" primaries into a 3.5" collector. full equal length runners that are 34" long.

the car is stock with only an intake and that header, and i put down 171hp at the wheels.

I have the pacesetter ceramic coated header on the 2.2 OHV engine. I bought it off Ebay for $75.00. It was easy to install. I had to leave off a brace and it blocks removal of the starter. Those are the only issues. I don't know the HP gains but when I hit around 3500 RPM it puts you back in the seat. I also have the Dynomax muffler and a K&N filter.
Gas milage went up as well as power, win win.
