I just checked the code that my engine threw a while ago, my O2 sensor in the headder has gone bad, not the one after the high flow cat. Is this unusual or am i just the lucky one that has to deal with it first?

Just be happy you dont have an import. My old eclipse oxy sensor went bad and it cost $152.00 for it, plus the heat shield on the exuast ended up getting ripped off in anger becasue it was fighting me to go back in lol.

how hard is it to change that O2 sensor? Cause im getting a slow response code as well.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, i would rate it a 2.
The only difficult part would be locating the sensor, but if you can find it, then you're good to go.
i would say if you can put gas in your car you can change the O2 sensor...... well ok maybe not that easy but like RoNuS20 said if you can find it then thats all there is too it basically. But if you have the stock exhaust manifold you may have a bit more of a challenge
if you have a header its a little harder seeing as how you just cant reach down from the top you have to jack up the front end about a foot and a half and put it on jackstands then get under the car to do it, it gives me the creeps, ive done it once, I'll be doing it again sometime this week when the new o2 sensor comes in

well i have a pacesetter 4-1 header and no jack stand. Ill give it a look as soon as the SNOW F-U-C-KI-N-G MELTS!

What about replacing the old one with a wide band O2 sensor? Is there too much to buy for it to work properly or can i just buy the sensor.
Its just 25bucks for the sensor? Thats pretty good I would think like $80-$100 cause I was gonna replace it with my header
But what caused the sensor to go out? too much heat from the headder or what?
I change the o2 sensor form the top of the car with the pacesetter header. I just use a stubby 7/8" wrench and it makes the job pretty easy.
