whats the highest compresssion you guys think you could run on the 2200 with the stock crank and rods?
i am talking N/A here not turbo maybe small shot of nitro 50 shot... with it bored .20 over
also may ungrade springs, valves, rods, rockers.
what you guys think?

The highest CR I have seen on a 2.2 is 12:1 with billet rods and stock crank, but you need a standalone to run it

it's not really the ratio that will matter but the tuning that you will make.
as for the comment about having to run a stand alone to run high compression, it's just plain BS. The ecm doesn't have any idea what the compression is. If you build it right and use the right gas, you can run it all day with the normal ecm. The thing is that when you bump the compression, chance of detonation and preignition get higher. If you use higher octane gas or use a colder spark plug and things like that, you will be able to run really high compression.
if you go with really high compression, you will probably have to retard the timming or use high octane gas but you don't need a stand alone.

running that compression you think i will need the higher octane gas??

There is a program called desktop Dyno. You can probley download it illegally if you wanted off limewire of something. You put in the specs of your engine and it will give you a estimte dyno sheet.. pretty neat and seems to be accuarte. but you need ALL the info from the engine. I couldnt tell you an estimate of the top of my head though

i wouldnt go higher than 10.5 on the street , and your gonna be running atleast mid grade gas at that level
and why if your gonna build a higher compression motor , keep the stock crapy rods , id upgrade to the better rods , the stock crank will take alot of abuse

There are about 3-4 of us running 11.3-11.5:1 compression with stock ECM running 91 octane gas, full power from idle to redline. Myself i'm running slightly higher than that. If you were to go with higher compression pistons obviously you would have the bottom end disassembled so why wouldn't you rebuild the bottom end anyways. Save up money and built it quick and right the first time, time and time again people will cheapen out and then not be happy with the results and get tired of it quickly, I know I have been there with a previous engine for the car as well as car audio setups throughout the years lol
